So Sidney will at least be in school...

and is putting his education first.

Proud to have him in the Bulldog Family.

I wonder how his Orientation went. Do you think he did the DPR?

I'd hate to be the guy next to him with his wingspan. That's a good way to get knocked out before you even take a class.

the team concept, with combo of size, strength and skill, he presents a whole new dimension to our offense and defense. Opposing teams are going to have to play him one on one due to Varnado. It is going to be a living nightmare trying game plan those two.

is a face saving move by the NCAA? (referenced in KV's blog) Its starting to look better for us with this development and Sidney's pending enrollment.

I see it as nothing more than a way to shut Jackson up. They're tired of having this issue played out in the media so they're laying down an ultimatum. This doesn't make me feel any better about Sidney's chances.

And of course, he immediately ran to the press with it. This is just one more obstacle that will have to be cleared before they ever even go any further with an investigation. Not that it really matters, the NCAA wasn't going to clear him anyway.

I disagree. If the NCAA wanted to keep this truly confidential then they would have given the basic "no comment" line when asked about it by KV and other reporters. I have no issue with how aggressive Jackson is being this. Both sides are just posturing.*

* I believe all this because Sidney is an MSU recruit and a truly wonderful kid that would not think of doing anything to place his amateur status in jeopardy. I reserve the right to berate him should circumstances change.

If this case had a different history, I could see this as being a first step towards NCAA trying to settle this matter, because, honestly, what else good could such a request do? He is under no obligation to accept this. In fact, he would have to be nuts unless NCAA really does want to put this to bed, and he is too stupid to see. Jackson only has one point of leverage right now, public perception (and judging from the op-ed pieces, he is losing that one). Going to court would be the nuclear option and not put his client any closer to playing this season.</p>

Let's not forget who holds all the cards here.
