So, sounds as if Madison Central's Head Baseball Coach resigned rather abruptly.

Times have changed over the years. When I was in high school coaches (except football, maybe) were basically just another teacher, but they got a small stipend as a coaching supplement. Coaches generally taught something like Mississippi History. Do they still have to teach?

And Madison Central has an Athletic Director? Hopefully that's not a full-time job.

All coaches teach now. This isn't 1965. They may teach drivers Ed or PE, but all Mississippi coaches and teachers must be certified.

I agree with everything you said Todd...but I will narrow it down even further. Baseball parents in that area are the absolute worst. From coach pitch all the way thru high school.

I'm not a Madison hater but 20+ years of experience with baseball in that area has me convinced that baseball in Madison county is a parental popularity contest of a ***** fest. This is in no way said to defend anything to do with this situation just making a general statement based on observation.

That's probably every sport. Because they have money and can put their kid on select teams and programs, they believe this entitles them to some sort of freedom to tell the coach how they should coach.

Rea doomed himself, but a lot of coaches are doomed from the get-go because they don't have the "right qualifications"- no matter how good they are. The parents and even the kids already know it all because they've had 6 years of travel baseball experience or whatever else.

Maybe because some people still think it is immoral for a married person to have sex outside of their marriage. Of course, to believe that way, you have to have morals yourself.

The two places I taught at

Were Madison Central and New Hope. In my opinion, New Hope was worse as far as meddling parents but not by much. Of course, New Hope was about two-three years removed from their undefeated season and their other high school sports were not very good. So, on top of the parents, you had the teachers and everyone else getting their two cents in. But things may have changed a good bit over the years.

I saw enough to know I didn't want to coach or any other part of that.

That explains a lot of the play calling

Bobby Hall serves as AD and Head Football coach when he is not drunk and hitting everything in site..........

Down 14 points, 3 minutes left in the game = fullback dive. Even the women in the crowd were like "Why are they running the ball?"

At the high school level new hope is definitely comparable to Madison. But as far as travel ball goes the Madison area takes the cake. After all new hope is nothing but side walk bama fans and they act accordingly when it comes to baseball...
