Absolutely. He's our 2nd best starter with Graveman first. So you just keep the rotation like it's been for weeks and go with Pollo, then Graveman in the winners bracket game Saturday.

Yeah. No question. I don't think he pitched against UCA in the series the first time around. The real question will be if we start Lindgren this weekend or does Fitts get the nod.

I would still go lindgren... However, the leash needs to be tight. Vandy was a game we could afford to lose... I don't want to have to play any of these teams twice if we can help it

Not no, but hell no. I'm with Strat. Let's go Pollo, Graveman, Fitts and hope that gets us to the super, then pitch Lindgren against someone's #5 starter if we have to Monday.

I'm exactly the opposite... Lindgren has had some decent starts this year, most notably the Sunday game against USCe (went 5 innings). They both give up about the same amount of contact, but I trust Lindgren's starting experience a tad more at this point. That's not a knock on Fitts at all because he's thrown good stuff this year, too... but I err on the side of experience in this case.

What the hell has lindgren done since he was hit to inspire an inkling of confidence?

Sunday USCe, maybe?

4.1 innings, gave up 1 run... that's close to a quality start.

Lindgren's last 5 starts

IP R Er
Vandy 1.0 6 3
USC 4.1 1 1
UM 1.0 3 3
Bama 3.0 2 1
Vandy 0.2 5 5

Every other start is a disaster. He has a 5+ era in SEC play. I'm just not confident he can get it done.
I'd rather start Cox, Bracewell or Fitts.

What scares me is if we drop a game early and Lindgren is starting an elimination game.

I somewhat agree with you, but I think I go Lindgren in game 3 just so we don't have to rely on him if there is a game 4. We can easily have a short leash for him in game 3 if he struggles, but you gotta remember he will be facing the Sunday starter for a South Alabama type team....not Vandy. You let Lindgren start and pull him at the first sign of trouble, and if for some reason we lose....we have Fitts and pen for the last game. But if you throw Fitts and pen in game 3, you are putting all of your eggs in Lindgren's basket with the Regional on the line in game 4.

i think Lindgren can get it done though.

We have some serious mental issues creeping into our pitching staff this year, and it concerns me. We have to shake this **** in the offseason. I'm worried that Evan may be a mental cancer to the pitching staff, but maybe after a decent performance the other day, he will want to contribute this postseason and cut out some of the goofiness.

Yes, but his SIERA is very good, whatever that is. #willjames*

Lindgren has a confidence priblem. As soon as an error is made behind him he falls apart. He was doing ok against vandy till frasier booted the ball.. then he lost the strikezone. Only way to fix that is to put him on the mound. And as others have said, I would rather do that game 3 not game 4.

People keep saying that he has a confidence problem or he isn't mentally tough and other bull ****. Everyone seems to forget he just hasn't been the same since he got hurt. He was really good before then.

Bracewell, Gentry and Mitchell seemed to be pitching great, why do they never start?

I hope to see Lindgren and Evan both in summer leagues. They need to pitch against batters... that's the only way they will gain confidence and get better. Put Lindgren through the Chris Stratton regiment, because he has the potential to be just as good. Both need mental confidence.

I know that's the common train of thought, but I disagree. I thought Lindgren was missing his spots in the 1st inning but Vandy was chasing. They made adjustment in the 2nd and Lindgren couldn't counter. His breaking stuff was all high too. Seemed like he was way over throwing too. He was hitting the mid 90s In the 1st.

I'm sure the error rattled him some, but he's got to be able to pitch through that.
