does it even matter? There is no cap so what's the point? Keep it at 20.5 and let the collectives fill in.
John Cohen would agreeAthletics Directors around the country are some very intelligent people…
Seriously though.. the people driving college athletics right now are highly capable and intelligent professionals. Either they’re all brainwashed lemmings who are driving this thing off the cliff Thelma & Louise style or there is more money waiting to jump in than we can fathom.John Cohen would agree

I was told that that was the problem we needed to fix.A few people are making a lot of money off of everyone else.
If they remove the rev share cap, wouldn’t that just drive the collective donations directly to the athletic departments? Revenue is revenue; whether it comes from TV & ticket sales or private donations.
Either way, you still gotta have big $$$$ boosters. The only change is the “Pay To” line on the checks.

Correct. This fool knows he has the boosters to do whatever they want. I still don't know why he wants to use rev share though, I guess so he can have control. The rich, blue bloods are mad now. I guess they think pro sports don't have salary caps? Heck, colleges have daily fee agency even pro sports don't. Eventually college sports will restructure and schools like us will get shoved out. Might be in 2030, might be in 20 years, but it's coming.
Alabama baseball coach was making money by betting on their games. Boosters and insiders can do the same! The door is/always wide open for anyone that has inside information to make money by gambling. I often wondered if Saban and his boosters were using this to buy player before NIL.Obviously the revenue and budgets we hear about as fans are all a lie. Fans on this board swear that MSU Baseball does not make money. That has to be wrong since everything continues to go up. There are no corners being cut. Football was just charging poor parents thousands of dollars to see their sons play. They are flying and driving all around the nation. The money being reported in college athletics is a fraction of the money they are actually dealing with.

Well, one way to look at it is that there is no longer any 'program building'. Anyone can catch lightning in a bottle. They might not do what Indiana did, but you could be in the mix for a playoff spot down the stretch, especially if they go to 16. And that will draw fans back in, at least.I know there are multiple opinions on how this should shake out, but I will fall on the side of this is not ultimately good in the long run. My opinion is we will eventually reach a breaking point that will alienate a lot of the current fans. I see it with my friends and acquaintances that are long term ticket holders, apathy is setting in. That doesn't mean there wont be a new mechanism to carry this forward but I believe we are looking at huge shift in who/what supports these programs if we continue this direction. In reality the shift in support has already changed, but it could be at the expense of the traditional fan base.
I admittedly fall into the "old nostalgic folks".Well, one way to look at it is that there is no longer any 'program building'. Anyone can catch lightning in a bottle. But I admit that program building was a lot of what made it fun to me. See if you can get to a bowl, get extra practice, build for next year, recruit this type player, etc. That is gone, although a lot of people don't want it to be and still talk like it matters. And most are either old nostalgic folks or people who make a living off people following college sports.
