I'm a little confused and for those of us at work, can you give us a little insight?

Let me tell you what's going to happen. Mullen won't bethe head Coach of Penn State. Penn State folks will be all "he's so arrogant and we didn't even offer him the job", then State fans will be all "he turned down Penn State".

Most likely he doesn't have an interview set up. I don't even think Penn State's search committee is to the point of having interviews. Their search committee is even less capable than Archies' Gang. Their Volleyball Coach has the most actual coaching expertise on the committee.

I say go ahead now Dan and never let me hear you complain about commits still taking trips to other schools

Just some twitter chatter about the rivals guy confirming it.

Confirming what? That he has an interview today, or that he doesn't have an interview today? If a guy from rivals is confirming that Dan is not being considered, that sounds great but if the guy from rivals is stating that Dan is sitting down with Penile State as we speak, that would be a little disconcerting.

Exactly what way is that?

As far as recruits, we have several commits taking visits to ther schools, and I have yet to hear him complain about one of them.

The simple fact is that if our coach is successful, he will be mentioned for bigger school's job openings. At some point most coaches would wind up taking one of those jobs. I don't really enjoy wondering if our coach is leaving evey year, but it's a hell of a lot better than knowing that his only option is to stay, or wondering if we're going to pull the trigger this year and fire him. If Mullen leaves, we'll be in good position to make a good hire to replace him (and have good people making the hiring decisino)and I'll thank him for getting our program back on its feet and wish him luck.

as compared to preseason expectations was that maybe we wouldn't have to deal with this crap like we did after last year's 8-4 season. But I guess that was wishful thinking.

We're going to have to go through this **** every 17ing year with Mullen? I just think it leaves the door cracked open for the Bears to exploit us during recruiting. We need every single decent football recruit in this state and with the results shown on the field the past 2 seasons,we don't needto throw that down the tubes by giving them any ammunition to recruit against us. It doesn't take much to create doubt in the mind of an 18 year old athlete. That's my take.

boo hoo, I'm gonna cry because our coach is being mentioned as a possible candidate at another school...

If you don't like it, you are in for a rough time. When a school like State has a coach like Mullen, this will happen every year until a) Mullen starts losing more than he is winning or b) he goes somewhere else.

I mean, there is always the alternative of us bringing back someone like Crxxm, or we could hire a former high school girls basketball coach.

You people need to wake up. State isn't a big boy in the college fb world & most likely never will be. When we have a successful coach, bigger schools will take notice. This is the price of success for us.

Fla, OSU, Penn St., TN, Michigan...just to name a few. You've got A&M now and possibly TX...Im not real worried. I just dont think Dan is waiting for a better job and is ansy to get out, he makes 3M a yr, does whatever he wants to and works for a good AD. They make a good team. He's got great fan support and lives in a polite culture. He could be...wait for it...happy.

Mullen is only interviewing with schools that are top teams historically...it's not like he is looking at a lateral move...if Hud coached us, won, and got approached by big-time schools- he would do the same thing. If our guys are in demand- it means they are doing something right. <div>
</div><div>There's a reason Stands has only had one job offer in 14 years here- and not because of his love for Mississippi State</div>

Honestly, if a player thinks he would be better off going to a school where they've won one conference game in the last two years rather than a school with a coach that some power schools may want, then good riddance. It makes no sense. That's not to say that schools wouldn't try to use that against us because I'm sure they're doing it as I type this, but that isn't what cost us Johnson, Whitehead, and Brassell last year.

he's never lived, played or coached in Mississippi until taking our job so I think its natural that people believe he will leave at the first perceived "better opportunity". Plus, at least with Penn State, he does have some geographic connection there as well as his wife. Only time will tell if Mullen is actually intent on building versus inheriting.

has turned up nothing since the original 12/2 tweet and Mullen's subsequent denial. Lots of retweets, but nothing new.

and couldn't attract a proven coach, even though they had a reported 3 million per year to spend? Not to mention a lame duck AD and Forward Rebels baggage to deal with.

We've got a Mullen stand-in, and we've got boosters dressed up as PSU board of trustee members to interview him, so we can use it to hurt his recruiting. Pics forthcoming.
