I am guessing the masses will call for Frosty, but if the AD's serious about throwing some dough at top candidates, it could get interesting
I don't think you fire your AD after your football coach has just lost at home to a MAC team and expect him to be around much longer...the writing's on the wall for Riles...he's doneHow can you officially say that?
Quite a leap, he's on the clock, but not done, yet. Give me a break.
As I said in another thread, if Green is bigger big shot making tough leadership calls and the reason Eichorst was fired is because of the 1-2 start and no confidence in the football program, then fire Riley now too. Eichorst was the sacrificial lamb. Now we have a lame duck coach for two years. You aren't hiring an AD in 2 months then have that new ADs first act be to fire the hed football coach. Unless you bring back Pope Tom as interim again.
NU actually has one built in advantage here. We could call on Les Miles to be the interim, if we fired Riley after another bad loss to say Rutgers.
That presents a sticky situation though. Miles is a big name coach who wants to coach again. I don't think Green has Miles in mind as the long term solution. How does a new AD politely thank Miles for his work (whatever the outcome) and put in say...Frost?
I think Nebraska may be backing itself into a corner with firing the AD. It creates uncertainty through to recruits. Which in the unlikely, but possible event of a turnaround, it could sabotage the future. If its a lost season anyway, just name Diaco as interim. At least at that point there is no expectation of returning in 2018

Playing in conspiracies gets rather fun. In an effort to ease Frost's transition, its fun to speculate that the defensive staff would most likely stay if Frost was amenable to it.
In light of that, they may not want to "waste" this season having Diaco do something other than build the defense. Find some other patsy to do the job.
Yes I know there is a big assumption there that Frost is the guy. Frost will at least be a candidate (which IMO makes him the 99% chance of being the guy), because the University won't want anymore quotes in press about how Frost was snubbed a second time, from the man himself.
I think "Who do you want as the next AD" would be more appropriate.
NoThink outside the box. Successful , proven Head Coaches, not making a ton, who have recruited successfully in difficult spots, and developed very good players:
Paul Johnson
David Cutcliff
Mike Leach
Dana Holgersen

I like the idea of Niumatalolo too.I'll throw in my non-Frost candidates:
Dan Mullen
Ken Niumatalolo
Craig Bohl
Troy Calhoun
Or if we're swinging for the fences: Gary Patterson
Bohl? Oregon teabagged him on his home field last week.I'll throw in my non-Frost candidates:

Craig Bohl

Tressel is old, runs a conservative offense and has had serious NCAA issues. If we are going to hire a dirt bag, we should just hire Petrino, at least he has some good years left.Hmm... the coaches i like to have come here, probably won't come here. I would hope if we were serious and would throw the house at one of them....
Justin Fuente
Bob Stoops
Chris Peterson
Jim Tressel
Edit: Maybe id throw Chip Kelly in too.
Why are so excited to try and hurry up fire a head coach who hasn’t even finished season 3 yet? On Tweeter it’s been said Green has said Riley and staff was fine.
Bingo - its that simple.Yes can, and if Riley and co. want to shut those talks down, they better find creative ways to get us to the CCG.
Everything looks great, but there is one problem. Fryar is still on parole, so put Santino Panico in his place. The rest are good to go.Frost - HC
Frazier - OC
J. Peter - DC
Rodgers - ST
Crouch - QBs
Fryar - WRs
Rozier - RBs
Mitchell - TEs
Rimington - OL/Asst AD
Parrella - DL
Alberts - LBs/AD
Minter - DBs

Pelini had his chance with his recruits and failed. Riley has yet to be given a chance with his.I don't really care if the AD or Head Coach have ties to Nebraska or not. There are plenty of very talented AD's & Head Coaches that have never set foot in Nebraska. I would like to see someone who aims for perfection, works hard to obtain it and adjusts when they fall short. Same goes for a Head Coach.
I really just dislike people who think its ok to be average. I would rather aim for the unobtainable and fall a little short than average and hit it every time. My drill instructor's favorite line was, "Private anything worth doing is worth overdoing."
Do I expect National Championships at Nebraska, yes I do. Does that mean I fire you if you go 11-1 or 10-2? No, but if your ok with not winning National Championships then I have a problem.
Here is my thinking. Nebraska under Riley and Bo had the best recruiting rankings in the Big ten west every year. Yet never lived up to the players level of ability according to Rivals. Can Rivals be wrong about these players? Yes but every year? If you as a coach can not get results out of your players its on you as a coach.
Most are redshirt Sophomores or younger, and that class was a short notice one.Pelini had his chance with his recruits and failed. Riley has yet to be given a chance with his.
