So we have to play out HOME games in the morning and road games at night?

Sure, that's fair SEC. Every other team gets good time slots for atmosphere and recruits, yet 3 out of our 4 SEC games are the exact opposite. Yet, every away game is at night and at the advantage of the home team. How are you supposed to move up in this league

With 14 teams, the SEC has to figure out a more fair TV schedule. This just isn't.

The SEC doesn't determine the TV schedule. The SEC is paid insane money to be told what the TV schedule is going to be.

I can assure you the PTB in this league have no desire for us to move up. But that is nothing new.

It beats not being on TV at all. With LSU and Bama being perennial BCS contenders and now Florida back up again, we have viriually no shot at the 2:30 game. So that leaves either morning or night. Frankly, we have fans that ***** about both. So what's the compromise? Should we turn down the SEC money? Lets go to the Big Ten and play at 11am every week with Pam Ward on commentary. Or, how about the ACC and be in the exact same TV situation. Or we could dominate CUSA and play on the CBS Sports Network.

I realize this Flab, but that doesn't make it any more fair. It doesn't matter in the NFL because recruiting doesn't exist, but for as long as recruiting rules CF, then getting recruits on campus and in front of a good atmosphere is to your advantage. In the next SEC TV deal, the SEC needs to allow CBS to have the number one choice of games, but not allow it to be an exclusive time slot. Too many games and the same teams are being pushed to the 11:00 time slot for the good of the league.

By doing that you are putting those schools that consistently play at those early time slots at yet another disadvantage.

Hasn't bothered OM, looks like they will get the 2:30 slot twice this year even they still aren't very good.

If we had won the past two weeks, we wouldn't have been playing Texas A&M and Arkansas at 11 in the morning.

Just win. That's what gives you good timeslots.

MSU SEC home games: 2011: 3 night/1 in AM; 2010: All 4 at night....

This year, it's going to be 1 at night vs 3 during the day. However, I don't remember too many people complaining about the atmosphere for the 11am Auburn game. That was a really good day.

Either way, we had 7 night SEC home games to only 1 in the AM for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, so we're still way ahead in night games when adding in 2012.

Just the opposite from last year - games at auburn, georgia, and Arkansas were day games (all losses). All home games were at night if I remember correctly.

Exactly. The problem here is the CBS contract that gives them exclusive rights to the afternoon time slot. Take that away and we'd be playing a lot fewer 11:00 games.

Only improvement I can think of is to put conditions on CBS. If a team is ranked, is playing a ranked team, and hasn't been on CBS in say 2 years, then CBS must pick them. I see that as of minimal difference to CBS, but a huge boon to the smaller SEC schools.

Yea, AT Georgia who was just coming off the Florida win and our choke at Bama which cost us the slot. Also, they are AT LSU on a weekend of garbage games. Besides, I thought we were talking home games, what does it have to do with Mississippi being on CBS for an away game?

And maybe its just me but its seems like there are getting to be MORE AND MORE 11:00 kickoffs in the SEC in general. Back in 2010 I'm thinking it was, for the most part, the SEC network game at 11:21 and the 2:30 CBS game and most everyone else kicked off at night. Now you have the 11:00 ESPN slot, maybe an 11:00 ESPN2 slot, sometimes a CSS slot at 11:00 plus the SEC Network game at 11:21. Of course last week with the CBS DH we had SIX SEC games kicking off at 11:00. So it looks like, given we are low on the pecking order for a 2:30 home game, that we are going to have more and more of these morning kickoffs for home conference games.

I think part of that has to do with ESPN deemphasizing the Big 10 and putting more emphasis on the SEC. A lot of those 11:00 games are on ESPN or ESPN2 in addition to the night games. Those used to be 2 Big 10 games every week. Now they're running close to 50-50 between the Big 10 and the SEC. They're definitately putting more SEC games on their top 2 channels.

The one SEC game we had at night, Tennessee, was at 8. Personally, I think that's worse than 11 in the morning. I didn't get to my hotel until around 2 in the morning. At least we haven't had any Thursday night games this year.

The reason the Bears are getting "good" time slots is because of their opponent, not because of them.

And unless I'm mistaken, even Alabama has had one or two 11 a.m. games this year.
