I'm 35yrs old and was born with a cowbell in my hand, a maroon shirt on my body and a whistle around my neck. I was a dawg fan long before Dan Mullen and still will be after he's gone or whether Chris Jones is here or not. I would love to have him here no doubt but he doesn't make an entire roster of collegiate athletes ready to go to war. I don't check my wife's voice mails, emails or text messages everytime she is out with friends. If she wants to be where she commited herself to be then she'll be there. Me wringing my hands, biting my finger nails like Shaggy & Scooby isn't going to make her stay. And if it did I might need to do some self evaluation. The same goes for recruits. Stop biting your fingernails off it's gross and if you are while your at it grow a sack full of man juice and rocks.

I hate that at the end of recruiting season for what seems like the last foour or five years we all have to read posts like this. We should't be in damage control right now as a football team. This should be a time where we are closing out strong instead we are hoping all of our commits stay with us and don't flip to a team that just came off a two year streak of NO SEC WINS and winning maybe 4 or 5 games total. I just damn tired of it. This isn't how a winning program is built....it is how a mediocre program is built. Oh well...

News flash. Winning programs are built on winning no matter who commits. Winning programs get past all the soap opera drama and learn how not to give a **** about one negative thing or one positive thing.

If you are wishing for a day without this type of thing happening, or fans that dont go absolutely berzerk, then you will be waiting for a day that never comes. But if you are tying that day to whether we'll be successful or not, then you are going to be waiting in an institution for the mentally ill.

original poster is right. We will or wont get him, just like we didnt get Singleton, Brassel, and Pat Patterson. NOT ONE of those kids has netted a win over MSU in spite of the hand wringing that went on over their recruitments. NOT ONE.

True but I think most State fans were more upset about Johnson. He wreaked havoc a couple months back.

I actually agree with Coach 57 and Grave on this one...

First off, Jones will be a dawg so I really don't give a **** where he is right now. Some of you underestimate the strength of our fan-base/Alumni over the past few years. We will not allow another CJ incident to occur. Chill the 17 out, drink a beer later on, watch ****** basketball or take a 17ing walk, I don't care. But stop worrying about Jones.

I guess if you are good with 6 - 8 wins per season. I know that is nothing to shake a stick at I love winning seasons too. But if we are talking about winning championships then we have to be able to recruit top talent and KEEP top talent...there is just no way around that.

At least now I don't have to read from Ole Miss posters where we hog tied CJ so he couldn't visit their fine establishment.

Some do work out. Many dont. CJ was an unfortunate flip. I'll say this: with a better employed offense, he would have been just another kid that lost to us.

This is really about getting kids in that matter and losing one or gaining any one here or there does not complete that mission. It takes 2-3 classes. We'll see. We lose him and we would lose a quality kid. We get him and we have solidified a position most likely.

But at the end of the day, we need him and more like him. Hell, I think the qb situation improved if we land the kid from CA. Takes a couple of years to see whether these dramas were worth the attention we give them.
