against MSU rb in the past? I think he's def behind Norwood and probably JJ too.

1) Norwood
2) JJ
3) Davis/Dixon

Something like that?

I know Dixon is breaking records left and right, but I just dont think he's as good as Norwood.

I think the thing is that Norwood was a better RB to deal with a bad O line. Dixon is more of a power back, where as Norwood was a faster back. With a bad O line, Norwood could bounce stuff easier and hit corners better. If Dixon hits the line and he doesnt have a hole, hes pretty much done. However, I think with the 2 back system going in the NFL now, and the success of some of these bigger guys like Gore, Jacobs, Portis, and even a guy like Donald Brown for the Colts, if Dixon gets in the right system he could make a quicker impact on a team than Norwood has for the Falcons.

Norwood
Walter Packer
JJ Johnson
Michael Davis

Are definitely ahead of him. Maybe even Keffer McGee and Dicenzo Miller, too. His yardage total is based on sheer quantity of carries.

This guy is at the top of list in Rushing. His totals would have been higher if we had not run the bone. He also averaged 6.0 ypc. On top of that he was the 8th pick in the draft.

we've ever had. He was a bigger, faster, more powerful Keffer. He was also a nightmare in the tin gym.

He was a great back. Also, Keffer McGee doesn't get enough credit. His life was way too short, but he would have rushed for 1,500 yards his soph season if he hadn't been injured in the 3rd game. I think he still had close to 500 that year anyway.

I would take these guys before Dixon:

Norwood
JJ Johnson
Keifer McGee
Michael Davis
Dicenso Miller

...pretty much any good RB we've had since Sherrill was here.

I'd rank them something like this.

1) J-Rock
2) JJ
3) Keffer (I believe that he'd have been 1 or 1a had his life not been cut short)
4) Dicenzo
5) Boobie

Walter Packer's name comes up everytime

That is because he was the best. I personally think he was better than Norwood ..... not by much, but better. Problem is that a lot of folks weren't around to actually see him. But, damn he was good. Norwood reminded me of Walter but I would still take Walter.

I'd have to say the same, just based on personal experience. Keffer holds some mythical place way up there, though. 1000 yards as a freshman, then he tore it up before getting injured the next year.

1. Norwood - #1 because he ran for all those yards with offensive lines that were maligned.
2. Packer - I think Packer had the better offensive line.
3. Haddix - would be ranked higher if he'd been an I-back.
4. Johnson - two great seasons.
5. McGee - what could have been...
6. Dixon - has run too much sideways for me to want to rank him in the top 5. If he's a north-south runner this year, I'll rank him higher at the end of the season.

If we gave Ducre the ball as many times as we do Dixon, he'd have about the same stats. Dixon is not very fast as running backs go, and his running abilities really don't impress me. Give me a big guy that I give the ball to 30 times a damn game and a hell of alot at the goal line (meaning when we actually get to the goal line) and you'll see a guy with the same damn stats. Sorry, I'm not impressed. He also got these by running for 4 years as the main back. I also believe that Dixon listens to and believes all of the hype. He won't make it in the NFL if he actually makes it past a scout team.

what do you expect him to believe? that he is just average at best, that anyone else with a heavier than average weight and average speed could have done the exact same thing as him? for me, i sure as hell hope he thinks he is better than a lot of the folks around here do. otherwise, he may eat a bullet.

/i am not saying that i believe that dixon is all world. i am just splitting hairs and being nit picky because that is what we do here the best. we are way above average on hair splitting. all world

I couldn't agree more. People always jump my *** when I say he is one of the most overrated players in recent memory.

I guess I could have said that I also think Dixon is an ******* who talks about himself like he's the second coming to Bo Jackson, but I was trying to be nice.

Please, nitpick. As you've seen in my posts today, I've been nitpicking the hell out of everything. Even things I really don't give two ***** about.
