it was just a brief speech b/c they had to fly back to Starkville but he seems to have his **** together.

Took some questions from the audience and he gave some funny replies.
One gentleman asked are we going to full court press. He responds with -
forgive me if I don't get it exactly right - "Do you want us to full
court press?". Guy says yes and he says "Then we will full court
press".

He followed it up with that we will have one man called a jammer who
will guard the ball handler all 94 feet so there will be pressure but
not in essence a full court press all the time. He said he will press
when the situation warrants like coming out of timeout for a change of
pace.

Said they had a practice today at 6:15. Said Hood told him this was his hardest practice ever.

worked harder than in any day that Stansbury coached him. Doesn't surprise me one bit.

Rick Ray may not be a good basketball coach, but he's already off to a great start.

Forgive my ignorance, but are they allowed to practice this time of year? What are the rules on that? I honestly have no idea. Obviously, if we are practicing it is allowed, but I just assumed no organized practice until the fall.

I'm guessing conditioning or maybe one-on-one instruction. I think some one-on-one instruction is allowed in the offseason (2 hours a week maybe). I'm not insinuating that he was breaking rules. Nobody breaks rules on the first day and then tells the world about it, except Lane Kiffin.

Hood's hardest practice at MSU wasn't a even a pre-season, full-speed affair, but a 2 hour conditioning exercise? Unbelievable.

this coach will make me happy for the first year. Of course he will have to show some major improvement in year 2, but knowing that he is instilling hard work will keep me from complaining too much the first season.

Wether we go 32-0 or 16-16 I just want to see our guys give 100%. I'm not going to be to quick to judge the new coach on wins and losses because of the situation he is coming to. As long as we play with heart, show emotion and leave it all out there I will be pleased.

Said Hood told him this was his hardest practice ever.

I heard him mention strength and conditioning in either the presser or radio interview, hope he and Balis' staff get off to a good start. I know BB has a separate coach but they all work it out together hopefully, at least from yesterday forward

wanted to see what a coach like this could do with Sidney. I'm glad events unfolded the way they did though. Better not to risk any cancer from the outset of Rick's tenure.

gone through the conditioning that Rick Ray is putting Hood through he would lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks and probably be close to unstoppable..

every player says that when a new coach comes in. Part of it is the coach trying to set some kind of example the first day, so he probably overdoes it/takes it as far as he can. Stans or any other coach would probably do the same thing on day one.
