So with everyone wanting Dan gone...

At the time that Sixpack was started - we stared at 3 consecutive seasons of 3-8, 3-9, and 2-10. That's something we should never do.

Gene's took the stance of that you shouldn't call for a coaching change with those results.

I have never considered us as being Tulane and I have never dreamed of us being Alabama. I do however think we can realistically set a goal of being at the high end of the range in between. The trend and demeanor of our program over the last 12 games is very bad and your mathematical evaluations can`t cover that up. Nice try though.

The majority on here are not calling for a coaching change as much as they are some answers as to how we`ve gotten into the 5th year of the most expensive coach in the history of MSU and our team(and coaching) seems to be getting weaker every game. When someone asks WTF is going on they are immediately hit with "well who the hell do you think we are, Alabama ? ". I`m just calling ******** on that. I dare anyone to find one MSU fan (with a half a brain) that thinks that MSU consistently belongs in the upper half of the SEC in football but damn it we don`t have to dwell in the bottom quarter either.

I honestly don't think

we will ever go to a BCS bowl with Dan as our head coach. As much as I hate to say it (because I went through the Croom era and Dan has improved the program), it just isn't going to happen. Petrino is a good coach but he has too many skeletons in his closet and I don't think that would be good for our program. I may not know a whole lot about MSU football per se, but I can be sure that unless we get better at recruiting, and get better assistant coaches, we will be an average/below average SEC team.

I was being a realist in 2002 when I said Sherrill needed to be fired. I am being a realist now when I say we aren't ever likely to be a national program that competes with Alabama and LSU. I never changed.

Is this a package deal? Do we have to take all their assistants, too?
I guess it's a good thing we didn't get the WKU coaches.
Some of them seem borderline insane.

I'll take my insane strength & conditioning stunts the old fashioned way: Navy SEAL inspired workouts leading up to a 3-8 season.

The fact that we will never compete day in and day out with Bama and LSU is absolutely inarguable as is the fact that we flat kept Jackie around too long. I am totally aware of who we are and how strongly the deck is stacked against us. Because of that acute awareness of our circumstances I`m also aware that when those PRECIOUS opportunities to win winnable, relatively high profile games such as OM and Northwestern in 2012 and Auburn in 2013 if we don`t have a coach in place that can get it done when our RARE chances come up .... we are 17ed because we are not Al or LSU and we`ve got to capitalize when we do get our shot. I am asking seriously if asking Mullen to have won any two of those three games was asking too much ?

Not trying to cover anything up. I agree the trend at the end of last season was bad. And I agree the AD should be having conversations with Mullen yesterday.

But if you overlook the fact that we just finished our best and most consistent 4 year run in history, then I can't help you.

I think we are a 6-8 win program. That's my expectations right now. Should we strive for better? Sure. But if we ever have a coach that wins less than 6 2 straight seasons - he should be fired. Until then - he keeps his job.

And Mullen being the most expensive coach in MSU history has really nothing to do with his success. It's more of just the $$ that's coming into the conference. We have to pay a coach $2 million.
