Yeah. We suck at soccer. But losing to south Alabama is worse than usual. A quick google of women soccer rpi last year shows we were #133 & USA was #217.

We have a new coach this year, which has been needed for years.

Like anything, I want to see what changes he makes this year, but he needs a few years to get his recruits in. I keep up with soccer a bit, and Macdonald just didn't recruit our state well at all. He wouldn't contact our best, but then would actively recruit a middle of the pack player. Blows your mind sometimes.

So I hope this guy is a better recruiter. And I hope the games look better, because I don't understand how your team looks the same on the field year after year with different players.

We have been awful for years. Here's Macdonald's tenure:

2006: 2-16-0 (1-10-0)
2007: 6-12-1 (2-8-1)
2008: 5-15-0 (0-11-0)
2009: 9-8-2 (1-8-2)
2010: 8-12-0 (1-10-0)
2011: 6-10-3 (3-7-1)
2012: 9-10-1 (2-10-1)

Coincidentally, USA recruits MS hard. They don't always get our players, but they still go after them hard.

Whether it was coaching or whatever, you have to find the irony in that. Jordan Duncan got an assist for them last night, and she definitely deserved some looks. She's a better keeper than she is a field player.

EDIT: Nevermind- goal and an assist on us.

Yes. He sucked, and he was allowed to for NINE years. Stricklin finally laid the law down last year, and he was told before the season if they weren't better, he was gone. He stuck to his work.

Nothing against Neil Mac as a person, but not a good identifier of talent by any means. Never seen him run a session, but just from watching games, it was the same thing year in and out. He'd have really good players begging to play and not give them the time of day, and then turn around and offer someone who shouldn't even be a D1 player. Just never made sense with his picks IMO.
