Returning troll (mostly silent) and PK fan who always finds the disrespect for this kid amazing. Fourth place at NCAA’s, only losses there to champ Hamiti (by 2) and former champ Haines. Only loss this year to sneaky dangerous Gaitan, and only due to over-aggression, which most prefer over passivity. Your 174 is settled. It belongs to the tough-as-iron kid ranked 3rd in the nation. Troll out.
It's like pulling teeth to get anyone to admit they are under the weather, but I strongly believe pk was that vs L'Ames.

Let the season start vs Wisky and see how he does

Yep, I am sure familiarity is a factor head to head but that’s the great part of a tournament. Lots of other matches to evaluate.

And has got it done every single time huh? You mean 1/3 times. Let’s not make it seem like PK has been a pillar of consistency.

Sounds like it’s a moot point anyways because the decision is already made. Either way I will root like hell for whoever is out there.
He did it the most recent time and that’s what matters.

Same with Mikey at Nat Duals. He had only ever teched Scoles and Mayfield in his career and they were 2 decisions, same type of match with Paddy. And then not moving his feet at all against Lockett.

Although McEnally will likely have 2 oppurtunities against Ferrari in Bigs, wouldn't he want another chance at Sinclair? Would likely have semi with Sinclair and final against Ferrari. Come on Gophers, make this happen. BTW, didn't @MitchL ever come over here with the pool?
Thanks for the mention!!!!!

When the transition to this site happened, I used my phone and the screen name got effed up.

I like that because now I'm not banned on OkieState/PSU/Nebby forums...yet.

Duck season in Iowa! To duck at your home tournament is sad. What happened to growing the sport? No wonder the best recruits don't want any part of this wasteland.

For the record, I love PK. I am just a firm believer in letting them decide it on the mat, preferably in live competition. If the coaches want to do it behind closed doors that’s fine but practice is different in my opinion.
I think its amazing that anyone thinks gabe is a better option especially in march. Kennedy has shown he can grind and get points gabe hasn't and if he beats Kennedy is he really an upgrade?

Gabe literally had 1 chance at his non optimal weight and went r16. PK has had 3 chances and went r16, r12 and AA.

I think it’s amazing that anyone thinks this is an easy decision.

Seeds are posted on Intermat. Mizzou and Wyoming brought everybody. Would’ve been good momentum for the tournament if Iowa came to play but they didn’t.
Yep. Would have been some really fun brackets. Such a bummer. But hey at least we will be fresh for Wisconsin!!

"Oh, darn, we have that annoying tournament--you know, the one we started for no particularly good reason, and which we haven't been able to get off the ground? So--idea--let's just send the backups. That will send a signal to other teams and fans that we don't give a crap, and then maybe the tournament will pick up steam next year. That seems like a good strategy--and it's the same strategy that's working so well with our HWC!"

"Agreed! Tom, you're a genius!"

Sorry, I couldn't resist. This just seems like a dumb decision unless you are trying to kill the tournament. And if that's your goal, just kill the tournament and stop the pretense that it's important.

Pretty sure they didn't have a clue that the National Duals would emerge when they left Midlands. Hell, even if they stayed that tourney sucks now anyway.

Look, as a selfish fan, I would love to have another tournament to watch. HOWEVER, March is all that really matters in this sport. After the slew of injuries, If the Brands can actually get their best 10 starters into March as healthy as possible, I COULDN'T CARE LESS who wrestles for them at the SS...

125: Cruz hopefully gets to 5th place match.
133: Nada.
141: Not sure why Bailey isn't on rest and heal with those paws wrapped in tape like winter mittens. KP could make some noise.
149: Go KV. Hope Block stays healthy.
157: Looking forward to seeing JW back in action. Not looking forward to possible VV match OT tiebreaker.
165: Nada. See 149, stay healthy Cali.
174: Arnold at ideal weight is going to be good. Him and Wask will be low scoring, hope he gets a TD in ot.
184: Nada.
197: Cant wait to see Ludington against some very good div 1 talent. Really wanted to see Mo and Novak.
285: Nada.

Is this verified? No Caliendo or Kennedy? Hell, the more I look at it the Little Rock guys are the only “starters” going and even that is a bit questionable still…
Kennedy is going, just the younger one. I’m fine with Kennedy not going. His style beast guys up but also beats himself up. I’m sure Angelo isn’t afraid of going but Brands isn’t going to let Angelo’s pride play into Sinclairs hands. We forget these guys aren’t competing strictly for our entertainment. I don’t agree with there terrible dodging that has gone on in the recent past with top ranked guys, but he already beat himself once this year. Did Minnesota release their line up? Is McNelly coming. He should, it would be his only chance to revenge his loss to Sinclair this year. Block and Ben are our only underclassmen starters not competing strictly, and one is injured and the other is injury prone.

165 is not nada, we have Torres going unattached. Will be a nice test to see where he’s at since he could be our starter next year unless we hit the portal. Glad Ludington has a few guys he’s an underdog to. Would be great if he could make the finals to see if he could keep it to a decision against Novak. Bailey would have been rested if he performed better in first half of year. Was looking forward to seeing Estrada go. Was a good video recently of Tom working with him and Torres drilling high crotch.

I wouldn't care either if I hadn't bought tickets and could stay home and watch for free instead of paying for an overpriced JV tournament. I have a funeral I need to go to in SW Iowa in the morning, so by the time I get to Coralville, there will probably only be 3 or 4 Hawks in the winner's bracket.

Good. Better there than somewhere relevant to Iowa.
Well I would NOT say "good" as a way to describe this!!! This kid is another HAMMER that IOWA needs. Get him and figure out who is going up to man 133!??!?!?

For him to head to NC is kind of another WTF moment!!!!

Anyone know why Deluca isn’t wrestling ? Is he hurt?

Lets put everyone in bubble wrap until BIG tourney. That is after we take out the power that is Wisconsin wrestling. Need all 10 guys at their best for that goliath. Then we stop cutting until BIGS. Just forfeit on out and we will have the upper hand. Let PSU take the mat like suckers!
