Some like candidates for 2016 from Bonner at the C-L.

Duke would make a decent story line. But they will probably suck in 2016 and it won't do us much good. I'd like to play a NC State or even NC.

I still don't think people realize that just being in the SECW gives us a top 20 SOS by default. Why make it harder on ourselves? At our current level, wins mean more than SOS.

With our resources and situation (being in the SECW), it's going to be infinitely easier to "out schedule" our competition than it is to beat them. That might not be the most novel thought in the world, but I certainly think it's the most realistic.

During the #WeBelieve season, no one was looking at who we beat until that point. The media took the 7-and-0 bait and ran with it...and it was fun.

That's not entirely true

The media really didn't talk much about us at all, and if I remember correctly dismissed our very easy schedule. We were only ranked 11th in the polls when we played Alabama with a 7-0 record, behind several teams with 1 loss and maybe even behind a 2 loss team. It also wasn't great fun either, at least for me. Sure winning is nice, but we were struggling to beat **** teams and we spent the whole season looking ahead to the final five games, which we got slaughtered in four of those. I love the idea of playing one non-conference BCS opponent each year. There are plenty of BCS conference teams we would be relatively equal to. I would love to see us play a team like Virginia, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Minnesota or Arizona. Those would be games the fans would look forward to instead of playing a SWAC school, two Sun Belt schools and a C-USA school that no one cares about.

Do not ever ever ever want to play Jawga Tech again.

Ever! Paul Johnson gets a big chubby every time he enters Oktibbeha County.

It does not matter who we schedule and what their history is...

they will be a legitimate Top 15 program by the time we get ready to play them. Bank on it.

MSU,

present day, is light years ahead of MSU 2008-2009. Hell we *only lost by two scores (in what was Mullens first season/worst team to date) to their best team in the last 5+ years.

The question will be are these schools willing to play us?

Or are we going to get stuck in a two for one issue? Perhaps some neutral site games.

You (and a few others) are being WAY too paranoid. We're not going to be getting in 2-for-1 situations to meet this new scheduling requirement. And we're not going to get stuck playing a bunch of top 10 teams either. We'll be seeing a lot of middle-tier ACC (and probably some Big 12) schools either at a neutral site or home-and-home. It's not in the SEC's best interest to force us into schedules that will keep us out of bowls or to set up mismatches not in our favor.

The answer is no then. We're not going to get stuck in a situation like that.

A Pac-12 team come to Starkville like USC, Arizona(Most likely to happen due to Byrne and it would be Rich Rod's Revenge game), or even Washington. TCU would be a great even for an away game since its just in Dallas but since we've had WV and GT on the schedule in the past years already seems easiest to just add them back.

Incorrect that was all the fans, not the media. The #webelieve 7-0 stuff was all fan and our football department generated.
Actually, media members like SVP and Russlio were making fun of our fans for not understanding why gameday wasn't gonna be at our game against Bama.

I'm not saying the media came up with the hashtag. What I am saying is that it was picked up by the media. The media talking about us isn't something that happens a lot during football season. Winning games (easy or not) will give us more exposure than being a "really good 6-5 team".

Asst. A.D. at TCU is an MSU Bulldog, might have an influence.

BTW, LSU canceled a series with NC State (games in 2017 and 2020) so get a series with NC State for the second week of the 2016 and 2017 seasons?

Link.
