yet we beat them, had a better record than them, and won the SEC title that year. So we're declaring MSU national champs that year, despite the fact we were 9-1-1 and lost to an undefeated Duquesne (sp?) team.

"We're going to bomb your chance at a national title." Or it might translate, "Your football stadium is desecrating a native American burial ground."

that Alabama's 1941 title was declared in 1946 by a publication started by a former Alabama football player. They finished #20 in the AP Top 20 that year, but played in the Sugar Bowl because our asses were stuck in San Francisco when Pearl Harbor was bombed.

I have reviewed the facts and MSU is in fact the 1941 National Champions. Now all those toothless rednecks in alabama will have to get new tshirts.

And go ahead and add 1940 to it as well...

"In 1940, MSU went undefeated (10-0-1) and won the Orange Bowl. The season included wins over Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. That season seems fitting of at least a share of the national title right? Go undefeated in the SEC…win the prestigious Orange Bowl? Wrong. Mississippi State (10-0-1) finished 9th in the final polls behind such teams as Northwestern (6-2), Nebraska (8-2), Texas A&M (9-1), and Tennessee (9-1). By the way, that Tennessee team claims a share of the 1940 national championship. Just seems a little funny to me that State, who went undefeated and won the Orange Bowl, gets no share of the title."

Hell, I'd take an endorsement from the Amory Weekly Wiper at this point as well.

Tennessee went unbeaten in the SEC, we tied Auburn. Tennessee legitimately won the SEC title.

As lame as it is for Bama or Mississippi to claim a ******** national title based of of some ******** person or organization that awarded it, at least those were awarded by someone outside of Bama or Mississippi. As silly as they look claiming those, we'd look 100 times sillier claiming a national title that we awarded to ourselves.

Why don't we just use the interlocking MSU that BMT did back when everyone was messing around with what our new logo should look like. Since it's not the exact same as what we had during the Sherrill years, there should be no trademark issues, correct?

Football Thesaurus awarded several of Alabama's early NCs. It was published by a former Alabama football player.

One of Ole Miss' national championships and two of Alabama's were awarded by the founder of the Sugar Bowl (you win the Sugar Bowl, you're national champs)

On a side note, when are they going to announce first match times/draws for this weekend?

"at least those were awarded by someone outside of Bama"

that awarded the 1941 national championship to Alabama was run by an Alabama alum.

They're still working on the draw (they added a few players after the deadline). They should have it up in a couple of hours (mid-afternoon).

anything that pisses Alabama fans off is fine by me. I say we bombard the interwebs with it. EDSBS.com should be notified immediately.

Somebody should stop by one of the Bama boards and inform them of the blasphemy we have created. But, do it disguised as a Bama sheep pissed that we are desecrating the UA legacy by claiming something that is rightfully theirs. Then, provide a link to here. Maybe even post a pic of the HI sign. Could make for an interesting afternoon and classic thread. I know somebody on here is creative enough to throw out some quality bait.

They love, love, love to talk about old-time football on their podcast. I bet if we wrote to them they'd include something in their podcast.

Just because those that came before us were not smart enough to claim all those national championships lo those many years ago, that every other school in America had no problem claiming, does not mean that those of us who BELIEVE we are the 1941 national champions should simply roll over.

The 1941 national title that was published in the Football Thesauras was determined by the Houlgate System.

Houl.: Houlgate System (1927-58); a mathematical rating system developed by Dale Houlgate of Los Angeles, Calif. His ratings were syndicated in newspapers and published in Illustrated Football and Football Thesaurus (1946-58).
