MEH -- footballscoop reported that he was a candidate. He told Paul Jones that he hadn't been contacted by anyone from JSU and wouldn't be interested even if they had...

Comegy was fired making almost $40k less than Hughes makes right now -- and I'd have to think that he is in line for a raise.

Possible early rumor was Tyrone Nix. I honestly think JSU could surpass USM if they left the SWAC and went to a conference like the Sun Belt. Just untapped potential if they did build a new stadium and could capitalize on the market of the Jackson metro.

Funny that Rousell always has MSU coaching rumors but never hears anything out of his alma mater as far as assistant turnover. Black helicopters and such

Agreed. I said that nearly 20 years ago when JSU was leading 1-AA in attendance.

JSU could be a sleeping giant for a number of reasons, and yes, they could surpass USM if they played it right. USM has a number of problems that they didn't have less than five years ago, and they may not be able to solve them, among them recruiting base dwindling, lack of attendance and funding for facilities, and a crap conference to name a few. On other hand, for reasons you mention, JSU could rise.

JSU could rise? New stadium? Come on people. As bad as things are at USM, things at JSU are in another world of down and out. That joke of an administration thinks they are the splendour of disciplinary standard,..not to mention everything they think. Horrible job for a football coach.

Their budget is abysmal. The facilities improvements they'd need to move up to FBS is an impossibility.
