“If State wins (Wednesday) and we have the opportunity to play them,” Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said earlier this week, “then, you know, it would be their Super Bowl in that they could ... put us out of our misery.”

I know being a Black Bear is one long miserable existence but to call out your season as being miserable is just stupid.

I think he means that his team is analogous to the 49ers and our team is analogous to the Seahawks.

I don't think it's any secret that they've had a miserable season. Kennedy always has his "woe is me" shtick when things aren't going well. The other part is just the standard "they care more than us" nonsense that teams say when they've lost, only Kennedy is throwing it out there preemptively.

Is Kennedy taking them to the NIT again? If not, it would be a fitting end to end Henderson's college career if we were to take them out.

I never heard Stansbury say "they care more than us" the 90% of the time that the roles have been reversed the past 15 years. I guess OM could always be happy that Stansbury didn't beat them every single time, just about 80% of the time. Heck, they can only go 50% against us under Ray so far in two of the worst seasons in recent memory.

I'm wondering what Ricky Ray meant when he said that last night's game against Vanderbilt would be an indication of next season.

Is there a difference maker in the spring signing period that was waiting on the results of last night's game to make his decision?

Is Ray suggesting that a Wednesday night win over Vanderbilt will propel his program to greater heights? How is it different from last year's first round win over SC?

Does a win tonight put MSU in Lunardi's "first four in group" for next year's NCAAT?

Maybe he thinks a couple of wins this week will make the losing streak a distant memory.

That last paragraph is what he was hoping. I would much rather be on a 1 game losing streak than 14.

If you had to spend time every day with Marshall Henderson, wouldnt you want to be put out of your misery?

I was just about to say... the difference is that Stansbury didn't have to make excuses because he whipped that *** many more times than not

AK's had ample opportunity and reason to show him the door and hasn't done it. So I guess he'd rather have his "talent" around and put up with his antics.

If for no other reason, I'd like to see us win tonight just to see his reaction. I might even watch the game if it's on locally.

He is just parrotting the black bear narrative....

When we play each other it is our 'super bowl' but we really don't care blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Its a sad little coping mechanism to help get them through the night when beat them in anything which happens pretty frequently.

I assume he means his relationship with UM. He should be fired if he loses to his rival for the 3rd time in 5 games, considering the shape we're in.

Edit: actually it would be the 3rd time in the last 4 games

"They care more than us" has always struck me as an incredibly stupid excuse to make, rivalry or not. If you don't care 100% about winning every single game you play, what does that say about you as a coach or player?

Agree. If you say, "they wanted it more," is says a lot more about you than it does about them.

"They wanted it more" is an okay statement after a game if you are taking responsibility for a loss. Its a ******** excuse before the game is played. If you are worried that "they will want it more," then do something about it.
