Rule. It's complete bs. Sc player had a clean hit on receiver and he gets flagged

From now forward we will call it the hit him really hard penalty** They need to do away with the 15 yd penalty when the call is reversed. The way it is now is BS.

Was the player ejected? I just got in from golf an hour or so ago so didn't see it.

No. At first he was but for the 9th time this year, they over ruled it. They over rule it but keep the penalty?

It is the worst rule on college football. I think it will get changed in the off season. I mean, by reversing the call you are saying that he didnt target but they make them keep the penalty?

The rule has gotta be changed. In fact, it might should be removed entirely. It's only natural to lower your head when you go in for a tackle, and it's natural for the receiver or runner to lower his head too. And heads will meet when that happens. I'm sure there are blatant targeting situations, but it's not nearly as frequent as they're calling right now.

I understand the basic premise... Player safety. They are also using a traditional precedent that targeting, just like any other penalty, is a judgement call (not like illegal forward passes... Those penalties are reviewable). HOWEVER, ejection from the game plus a 15 yard penalty is too stiff a penalty. Either:

1. Keep the 15 yard penalty intact, do not eject players and nothing is reviewable... Just like every other penalty
2. Allow the ejection and penalty to be overturned through review, especially since they are obviously being more liberal throwing the flag in the interest of player safety.

The current compromise they have is awful. It punishes a team simply because the officials were wrong.

also .... 3. There are cases when a penalty is legitimate but it's not targeting. In that case, go ahead and have the 15 yarder, but not automatically all the time.
