Probably closer to $40M , but who’s counting. And with staff and players paycheck it cost them about 32 million dollars to go play in the Gator Bowl.
I’m glad they didn’t make the playoffs too, but they had a tremendous return on investment. We don’t need to associate spending money as a bad strategy.Old Missy is NOT in the playoffs.
Oxford-Lafayette County-Ole Miss are running laps around the small minded administrations of Starkville-Oktibbeha County-MSU and leaving them in the dust.I’m glad they didn’t make the playoffs too, but they had a tremendous return on investment. Traffic estimates are showing almost 500,000 people in the Oxford area on SEC game days. You’re talking billions in gross sales plus real estate appreciation and student enrollment.
Yes, Ole Missed the playoffs, but they and Oxford moved up the ladder.
Clemson? Did I miss something? Dabo is notoriously anti portal and NIL and while I’m sure they are paying handsomely for players, I don’t remember them going full Peg Bundy in the offseason. Not to mention they are in the playoffs.Bama, Clemson, Ole Miss, Texas A&M basically all flushed millions down the toilet this season
That's one way to try to grasp at a positive spin on a massive failure. It's a business and it's the biggest failure in history. Until next year. It's not sustainable.I’m glad they didn’t make the playoffs too, but they had a tremendous return on investment. We don’t need to associate spending money as a bad strategy.

Similar in some areas but the exact opposite in others. If it was like the NFL we’d be drafting at the top and able to lock players in for a period of time with those initial contracts. We’d also get scheduling consideration. But we’re in a dogfight for players and we’ve got on paper what looks like the toughest schedule in the country right now.I mean it’s going to be like the NFL you are either a playoff team or not
So basically we had the same season both non playoff teams
I think this is true as well. We just need to make sure we aren’t in the Sunbelt by the time the waters calm.At some point, sooner or later, “big” donors, companies, and fans that regular and smaller donations are going to get tired of getting nagged by their AD to donate, donate, donate. Are the people and entities that are putting in a lot of money now still going to be doing that in 5-10 years?
Oxford has a 20 year head start on Starkville. The Mrs and I were in Starkville one day this week and just rode around a while off the beaten path. There is some serious construction of homes and money being spent in Starkville Ms right now. Someone is moving to Starkville and they aren’t poor people. I figure some of it is gameday second homes but some of it is affluent residents and that’s what’s going to build the future. Thanks to Joe Mack Higgins I can see Starkville surpassing Oxford one day , they just have some catching up to do.Oxford-Lafayette County-Ole Miss are running laps around the small minded administrations of Starkville-Oktibbeha County-MSU and leaving them in the dust.
Who is Joe Mack Higgins? I am out of the loop when it comes to that stuff. Builder?Oxford has a 20 year head start on Starkville. Why is it not sustainable? A majority of the private owned businesses in Oxford are members of their collective and a percentage of all the dollars spent in Oxford go to the collective. The more people that come to Oxford for games, the more $$$ spent, the more that goes to buying players. That's one way to try to grasp at a positive spin on a massive failure. It's a business and it's the biggest failure in history. Until next year. It's not sustainable.
There's no way there have EVER been 500,000 people in the Oxford area, unless "area" means everything between Memphis and Jackson. And no, they aren't doing "billions" in sales - the whole-asss Mississippi GDP is something like $120 billion.Traffic estimates are showing almost 500,000 people in the Oxford area on SEC game days. The math doesn't math. On the balance sheet, 2024 was a collosal loss. Why is it not sustainable?
