If we play Renardo Sidney and they find recruiting violations, then the most likely punishment would be forfeiting the games he plays in. So with that in mind, why don't we play him in any games that we are totally getting our asses kicked. He could get game experience and we have nothing to lose.

Please be gentle. It's Thursday and I just thought it would make for interesting discussion.

If the eligibility center finally decides he's eligible, and we play him, does that mean they can never go back on that? Once they rule he's eligible, is that that, since we would be playing him based on a certification by them?
Or, in 2 years, could somebody come forward and say "I paid Renardo Sidney in high school." and we have to forfeit?

Everyone was cleared, then the NCAA found out about the questionable test scores a year later, so UM had to vacate wins.

I think the egg would be on the NCAA's face in that scenario. I think that is why they are dragging their heels; they can't find anything specific, but they think they smell something rotten. They have had long enough to look into this; it's time to make a ruling one way or the other. To continue to drag it out is just not right to MSU or to the Sidneys.

The whole deal with Rose is, someone took his SAT for him supposedly. Most of the time if you accept money you have to pay it back and sit some games. Rose wasn't academically eligible.

if you have to forfeit those, who cares?

also, hubert davis is a moron for suggesting that part of the blame for sidney not playing should be on msu, because we won't play him until he is cleared. that's ridiculous - no school in the country would play a player who could be ineligible in the same situation.</p>

because of the Wall situation at Kentucky. The NCAA allowed the exhibition games to be counted against the suspension. So, if Sidney got a 7 game suspension, maybe the exhibition games would be counted against that total and he would only have to miss 5 regular games.

that the NCAA can rule a player eligible, then if new information comes out, they can rule that same player ineligible.

You're right, with amateurism issues, it's usually just a suspension/pay-back punishment.

That the NCAA vacated the wins because someone at the school knew he cheated and thus they were responsible. It was Callipari of course but the NCAA never stated that publicly.

I like how he said it right after they put the time line up that clearly showed he is currently "not certified due to non response." What does he think "not certified" means?
