And in the stands, I sat a lot closer to the MSU band (north side 20 yard line) than the JSU band. And from my seat the JSU band was a lot louder.

The halftime show delivered.

Their halftime show was fine and all, but they played over the top of our extra point attempts all night, they played over our PA guy, they wouldn't quit. I mean, I like Dougie Fresh's "The Show" as much as the next guy, but I don't care for it when our QB is under center trying to call the snap.

I remember at the Mudcat games here in Tupelo, they had some drumline group playing. They would play for almost the entire game. I really believe that had a negative affect on the attendance at those games. You couldn't even talk to the person next to you because it was so loud in there... made the games a lot less enjoyable.

JSU is probably middle of the road. Southern probably has the best band in the SWAC. They spell out the halftime score during their show- it's pretty cool. Florida A&M is better than JSU as well, and may be the best HBCU band out there.

I'm not a fan of "bump" bands like JSU, as we call them. I like bands like Jacksonville State, which are DCI oriented.

The best band show I have ever seen was from Phantom Regiment last year at DCI when they did Spartacus. They had people "killing" each other and stuff like that- it was really cool. They spear their drum major at the end of it.

The Boom kept playing when THEIR QB was under center. I'm sure Rutland appreciated that.

ppl I talked to said it was pretty ghetto.

It WAS Jackson State. I was more shocked when they whipped out some John Phillips Sousa in the stands. But only slightly less shocked than when I saw them at USM and they whipped out Silent Night in Sept. I kid you not. And nothing makes your Labor Day weekend more special than hearing Silent Night and some Jay-Z.

regardless if he were playing in a vacuum or on a runway at an airport in New York City. It was nice to see him throw his first career TD pass to a Bulldog, though. If I were Corey Broomfield, I would have asked him if he wanted the game ball.

I was able to teach my boys about the birds and the bees by letting them rock the binocs and checking out the pelvic thrusting of their dancing girls. Win...

how did you not enjoy the half time show? Everyone where I was sitting had nothing but good things to say about the JSU half time show...I mean does anyone really thing Nash Street was a good half time show, because I saw more people get up and leave during their performance than I did during the rain delay! It really does suck to come on this board constantly and see a lot of people just not know what they are talking about...for those of you who said it was "overrated" you really need to take a close look at the (and I say this very lightly) "famous" maroon band and ask yourself would you not want to watch the Sonic Boom every half time. They were awesome. End Of Story

I thought their show was good. I also laughed before the game when the FMB played 'Thriller' and then the Sonic Boom responded by playing 'Thriller' again-- and better.

MSU's halftime show with Nash Street - Meh. It didn't work for me.

I was not impressed with the Sonic Boom's halftime show. Their march in and out of the stadium was fun (north of stadium). FMB's show was shall we say, "NASH and burn". A problem the FMB now has since they moved them to end zone is that all of their sound goes out the south end of the stadium. There is nothing to keep the sound inside. They should rotate and angle toward each side of the staduim.

particuarly when you compare it to the "everbody spread out in a box accross the whole field" FMB routine. Why do we even need a band director if they are just going to do that every game?

I enjoyed the march in and out of the stadium as well.

They didn't, however, seem to have the same sense of when to play and when not to play that everyone else has. But, having them there definitely helped add to the experience of a great day.

that's a pretty cold statement about Rutland. Here's my take, he's not accurate but he is yet to have been coached at QB. I think under Mullen and company he may have been a decent QB (maybe be the option guy) cause he can run and has good size. But mainly, he never bashed Msu after he left nor have I ever read about him complaining about him being benched at Jsu during career. I think if anything Rutland showed some class about his leaving Msu (which I don't blame him).

As for as the Boom, the J-Setts can shake some ***, I wonder if they have to get "rub downs" the next day cause they got to have some bruises and soreness from all of the bunishment they cause to their bodies! The Drum Majors were pretty good as well plus I thought the Boom's marching lines were good. The negative, I sit in section 202 and I wish they would have gotten a flag for playing when the QB is under center, that sucked. Lastly, the Jsu guy trying to get the crowd involved with the wave was good.
