Sounds like Les Miles could be out at LSU by end of the day.

They'd better have quite the hire lined up. I don't think Miles is a top-3 coach by any means, but very curious as to who they're going to get.

Fortunately for Les, if LSU is dumb enough to sack him there are plenty of premium positions available this year. Really doubt he has a hard time finding a soft spot to land!

He's got the 70's Rommy o problem. Tom couldn't beat OU, less can't beat Bama. Would be a shame for them to cut him loose, but I really like the guy.

Remember how some people thought Nebraska was delusional firing a perennial 9-win coach? That's child's play compared to firing Les Miles. Would be a huge mistake.

It depends who the replacement is. If they can hire Jimbo Fisher, then this is a great move. If they end up settling on someone who isn't a proven winner, then it's a questionable move.

If we had replaced Solich with someone like Urban Meyer, nobody would have questioned it. But because we had to settle for Callahan, it ended up being a mistake.

Interesting comment:
Schad...passed along comments from a source who said, "In Louisiana, we expect to compete for national championships. He's not doing that."

My first response was...Since when was "competing for national championships the default for LSU? For most of my lifetime, LSU was pretty average, at best. They had 2 NC's in 2003 (Saban) and 2007 (Miles), prior to that, they went DECADES without one, with a lot of bad football played in between.

Reminds me of this (go to the 33 second mark):

I can see them targeting Briles, but I can't imagine him giving up the cushy schedule he gets at Baylor.

LSU is a tough job.... even though in a recruiting hotbed the SEC West is such a meat grinder.

Maybe Dana Holgerson?

Why would Jimbo go there?

I don't think he will, but I think that is who the LSU boosters want. And who knows, maybe Jimbo wants to get away from the off-the-field issues at FSU. If LSU offers Saban-type money it would be hard not to consider it. Jameis is gone and with Florida getting good again and Miami hiring a new coach, recruiting may get tougher for him at FSU.

"Then again, if LSU is going to can Miles and eat that buyout and an additional $3 million or $4 million for his staff PLUS chase a guy like Jimbo Fisher who has a $5 million buyout and then set him up, you could be talking about money in the $50 million-$60 million range, which is a fortune to make this move." - Bruce Feldman

Maybe he's overstating things a touch but he's basically right. This is in the realm of stupid money and if they do it they deserve to get bit.

Also, Jimbo just got divorce from his wife and he is talking about a change of scenery. He did coach under Saban at LSU

He would be crazy to leave FSU. I don't see it happening. He coaches the unquestionable top program in the easy ACC. Why go fight several in a conference when there is Bama who is the unquestioned top dog and you are fighting for 2nd place with 5 other teams that are basically at your same level any given year?

They go after Jimbo Fisher is where I'd put my money
That sounds like the hot rumor - they better bring a Brinks truck of money to get him out of FSU. Not sure why Jimbo would do it other than for money (and can't FSU match the offer??)

I have no trouble believing he is a certified nut job, but he's also one of the top coaches in the country. LSU is stupid to chase him our of town, they should have his back during this mini run of bad fortune but instead they will chase him out of town and bring in somebody of "les" (get it) caliber. Change for the sake of change in this case is beyond stupid.
