I think we all were just waiting for this to happen even before the season started. Not sure what his thought process ever was.

Don’t players decommit every year? Other than the flip flopping what’s the story? Following recruiting seems cumbersome. It doesn’t mean much until they’re on campus. And then we’ll see if they transfer.
He was always going to Florida State but don't tell the chicken littles

True, this guy was a two time flipper.

With the portal, there's no use getting excited about a recruit until hes walking on senior day.

Seriously, youre right. When they sign, it doesnt matter. If they show up on campus, it still sometimes doesnt matter.

We are basically rerecruiting the same players every year.

Yep. Used to be, you recruited a guy until he committed.

Then you had to start recruiting guys who had already committed to keep them from decommitting.

Now you have to recruit the players who are on your own team.

He's a proud graduate of the Smiley/Giles Commitment Academy.
Always on the move, the one, the only, Jarvis Giles, and he became a truck driver, which is not a bad profession these days, and helps him stay on the move!

We’ll see what happens when Norvell is let go.If I’m Beamer I wouldn’t be interested in a recommit.
Blountstown Fla is about 1 hour from. Tallahassee.

Last I read, FSU has likely settled on sitting out this hiring cycle. If they can get a bowl game, or even win their last 2 and win the bowl to go 8-5, I think he's safe.

I’ve read that several schools such as Wisconsin,Maryland are taking the money they would use for a buyout ,are instead using that money for player acquisition.Perhaps FSU is going down that road.

Yep. Now that you can buy players, that's a definite mindset. Just shove more money towards roster building.

The schools are capped though, at roughly 20 million.

Unless they didn't have that 20 to spend?

Or they are saying that money from boosters to cover the buyout will be redirected to 3rd party NIL deals.

Who is really monitoring the cap?

With the 3rd party NIL, it's just another way of doing the deals like pre-NIL.

I understand. The 20 million cap is on the schools/ athletic departments.

The 3rd party NIL has no cap at all.

Why i ask is because of its the school saying their athletic department is diverting funds from a buyout to buying new players, then they are subject to the cap.

Im willing to wager what they mean is that the millions that they were going to ask for boosters to pony up for the buyout will just be redirected to that capless 3rd party NIL.

Perhaps they have commitments of x dollars by wealthy donors to buy out the coach and redirect that to the NIL side. This wouldn’t really be posssible if NIL was monitored like it was supposed to be but we know that was a farce from the beginning.

It just sounds better to doom and gloom it. This helps position the woe is me narrative for most of them. Flipping commits is the norm for all teams these days. That’s why a commitment from a junior means nothing
