Why can’t this school afford to open the wallet to buy talent? We’re in the SEC, and our brand is not THAT bad. Ole Miss? You telling me OM has a bigger checkbook than us? Indiana? Vandy? BS!

So, you are saying we haven't opened the wallet? That there is money in the wallet but we refuse to spend it?

We aren't paying Shane $30M to leave though it would probably be helpful. You can thank Ray for garbage hires in football and baseball and the regression in both sports over the past decade.

Texas tech as well. Ray Tanner set the athletic program as a whole back. Tanner should have been gone a decade plus ago. Now we have a huge hole to dig out of. Absolutely awful hires and stupid contracts.

Sometimes the cost of an extensive overhaul justifies a whole new engine.

It’s not a talent thing when comparing to programs like Vandy or Indiana. Over the past five years, Carolina has recruited much better than those two programs and looking at the rosters most would have said Carolina was easily more talented top to bottom. Vandy is really just catching lightning with Pavia and these are there glory years. It’s a combination of bad coaching and playcalling, misses with portal guys both lines of scrimmage, and losses of a ton of good players from last year. I mean this team was preseason top 15 with talk of a heisman candidate. The offensive line flat out sucks. Just not a great team for too many reasons right now. Defense is terrible though.

All hail the talent composite. For the most part it is pretty indicative of where programs are though. At this point the team seems pretty deflated and isn’t clicking. It is what it is.

Ha, yeah. The "talent composite" is hardly perfect. But its a nice general indicator.

Usually, its gospel to people who want to make a point, then its garbage when it goes against their point.
