Why at 65…do we have to continue paying Ray Tanner until 2028! Just a nice way to get him to step aside. He will make $1,175,000 until next summer. $987,500 until the summer of 2026. $800,000 until 2028!

Pretty sure his contract ends in 2026.
I maybe wrong…but I think I read that this new contract goes to 2028 and a salary of $800,000. After he completes his current contract, the $800,000 starts. Anyway you look at it…it is a sweet deal for Ray.

Okay, I read the full article. His contract as AD was until 2026, but this role will be until 2028.

Do you think they are setting this up to replace any particular coaches this year? If so, they need to move quickly on this AD position.

Depending on how this season goes for football, it will be interesting to see how a new AD approaches it. Some ADs go in and fire underperforming coaches right away. Certainly I think this warms up Beamer's seat a bit. With Ray, he was likely safe until next season, no matter the outcome of this season. I think he loses that cushion though.

If you bring in a dispassionate AD who looks at 5-7 last year and 5-7 or worse this year, he may decide to move on and bring in his own guy.

Ray is the only reason Beamer is here anyway. Ray is a Gamecock and he was obviously heavily swayed by the opinions of former players and Beamer's previous association here. I don't think Beamer would have been on another AD's radar.

Hopefully we win tomorrow and this becomes a non-issue.

I think we can count on the BOT to screw this up. I have as much confidence in them as I do the NCAA.
Yep. Theyll make Dawn Staley AD. Then we will go from a baseball coach making football decisions to a WBB coach making football decisions.
