Disappointed that a 1A school that has 15 JV and 15 Varsity players cancels a varsity game. I understand trying to build a program, but cancelling a game for lack of players for refusing to combine seems counter productive.

Contagious....I said when they dressed 14 in week two it would be hard to finish the season. I hate it for the healthy ones....
I knew this would happen at some point. North Stokes doing that was the worst thing possible because it'd give the smaller and down schools inspiration to feel entitled about number problems and sit out. I just hope it doesn't become a trend because it'd become troublesome for a lot of schools to deal with.
Wonder if they legitly had issues this week or they just didn't want to take a whipping by North Moore? Oh the times have surely changed. This used to be the cellar bowl at one time and both teams had a chance to win and it would likely be their only one. North Moore's turned it around since then.

Admin is on the hook for this one. Keeps hiring from the outside thinking someone will have the magical fix for the program. Should have kept it inside the program when the unfortunate death of Coach Crowell happened. Might not have ended up as the magical cure, but would have given the kids "stability" and a better chance for increasing numbers due to established relationships. Good luck to the players, coach and assistants. Truly sad to see this happening to the good kids and people of SD!
Burlington has been shut down for many many years,last I knew they were tearing it down bout 2 years ago,Denton don't want to get any bigger than it already is
I don't think you can pin this on the school simply for not hiring a local guy. From what I'm hearing the problem at SD is similar to what was happening at North Stanly up until about 5 years ago -- parents and boosters trying to call the shots and the admin listening to them instead of backing their coaches.
South Davidson had 15 players dressed out for the game. They played hard, but were just out of gas by the second half. Gutsy bunch of kids!!
Know one of the boys really well and he was disappointed when they didn't get to play. He is a junior and loves the sport. Hope for his sake they get to finish out the year.
