Would suggest to me Shelby is subject to give up big plays. South Point will get theirs. I love our defense against Shelby's offense.
I love our defense against South Point’s offense, knowing you’re not just going to lineup and run against it, knowing we have the athletes to defend the two routes y’all will send Grier on, quick slant and fly.
Speaking of your defense, it gave up over 150 yards to East Rutherford’s Demetrius Mauney, and that’s not including a 25 yard td of his that was called back. Opposing teams will have at least one td called back playing you guys at home. British Brooks of Ashbrook got off on your defense, too. Man, I couldn’t be any more confident.
East had the ball well more than we did. We were putting ups points with big plays like a slot machine. Yes their time of possession was 3 times what our were so I would think any reasonably good team would accumulate some yardage. They are a competitive opponent as proven this past Friday in Shelby's 28-7 victory.
Oh man, I want those vaunted LBs of yours hyped. I want to see wide eyes, snot bubbles and steam coming out of their earholes.
Midline or inside veer play action and then, oops, wingback up the seam! Tell your LBs to wear neck braces to prevent whiplash.

Shelby's defense is the real deal but other than Kings Mountain and Crest, the Lions haven't been challenged. South Points offense will find some holes in the Shelby defense and find a way to score at least 3 times. South Points D is also the real deal. Just as good as Shelby but without the big names.
Hard to see Shelby being able to generate enough offense to keep pace with SP this year. Sorry Lions, Raiders win it this year.

I was wondering how the SP JVs are doing this season? Shelby has a special bunch this year with a lot of talent. I figured this game would be for the conference championship also.
South Pointe - I felt it was a good effort by your team but from unbiased accounts, South Pointe offense played below par that night.
AC Reynolds - Are you really claiming a quality win against a team that has only played 1 quality opponent this year? (Shelby) Reynolds 9 wins are against very weak mountain teams.
I also didn't bring up your struggles with East Rutherford last week. I feel South Pointe had an off night and your Lions had an off night against East. It happens.
I think you keep looking for something positive to grasp to in hopes of convincing yourself you can win against South Point. You really need to talk to Coach Ware. He will tell it like it is. Regardless of previous meetings over the years, and dropped passes in the 2nd qtr vs South Point(e) you are going to have a very difficult time beating South Point this Friday. Nothing personal just my unbiased educated opinion.
After a slow start to the season, SP JV's have won 6 in a row by a score of 207-25. Thursday night will determine the JV conference champion.
I remember when we lost 13-7 to Shelby in 1911. They have not quit talking about it. Al Bundy was their star running back that year.
Going to be a great game if both teams bring their "A game", which I hope they both do...

Both teams have veteran QBs that can really control a game, so will come down to turnovers, special teams, and whoever makes a couple of big plays!

I’m over in Polk Couny now and I sure would like to go to this game in that I’m so near but I’ve got to go home and see Clinton play East Duplin. Good luck to both teams Friday night. Should be s classic!
Hmmm, I wonder what could have caused that. Man, it's a real shame that they play the best defensive team on their schedule, and their offense has an off night. Weird how that happens.
I know, right? Their other nine games went as routine, offensively, that’s quite a coincidence there. You could even see it in their video, if nothing else, our boys were putting pads on them, laying the wood to them.
Like some have said, whoever takes better care of the ball and special teams. But, also costly penalties. SP had a lot of them in first half at Chase Can't do that Friday nite. I say close game SP 24 Golden Lions 21.Praying it doesn't turn out like my senior year at SP. Last game of season both undefeated and it was not pretty for SP.
Ok....please tell us who South Point has played this year. Actually please tell us one "quality opponent" they have played this year.
Crest and Cramer having a good year and Lincolnton has got better over the season. Ashbrook will be tough come playoffs.
SP and Shelby have played very comparable schedules other than the *** whipping that the Lions got from South Pointay. I know you want to discount that beat down and discount every TD that any team has scored against the Lions. All other Lion and Raider fans on this board seems to be reasonable and know that these are two excellent teams and that the game is likely to end as a tight, tough battle. You are the only one that continues to promote the Lions as the New England Patriots. Get real.
You can't tell the quality of our opponents when we destroy them all. That has little to do with them and all to do with what we did. That is what you are missing. You have no clue how good we are. When you leave Lineberger Stadium Friday night you will have changed your mind. Even you 72.
WMD, Lion Attack doesn't matter who they have played. Friday night comes down to who wants it the most SP or Shelby.

However, it is fact that we have played a tougher non-conference schedule. This isn't opinion. Your opponents are a combined 29-31. Shelby's non conference opponents are 42-18.
