Southern beats Ole Miss 4-3

Had some big defensive plays and the field was wet from recent rains so a few miscues in the outfield. Thought Ole Miss RF had killed himself crashing into the wall after a GREAT catch. Laid motionless for several minutes before coming to his feet. Scary moment. Two great catches (one by CF and then the wallcrashing catch) to give Ole Miss 2 outs in bottom of 10th, before USM gets a 2 out single. Pinch runner comes on and Ole Miss pitcher gets a fly ball that probably should have been caught in LF, but he misplayed it and the guy at first was running with 2 out scored. I said the other day USM has a very good team and they certainly showed that again tonight. Hard to tell much with mid-week pitching, but good college baseball game.
are pretty equal this year. When we play USM and UM, it could go either way. The only thing that would surprise me is a blowout.
I looked up and saw a local orthopedic surgeon running out on the field and got worried. On the final play, the LF broke back on the ball and ran himself out of position to make what probably should have been a routine catch on high fly. It was entertaining, if not always tightly playedin stretches on both sides. Good crowd, a shade under 6,000.

I hate me some Bianco, but maybe Crouse will pull off a win for us. He's been unreal.
