SP dominated leading 35-0 at half and ran out to a 42-0 lead with 8 minutes to go in 3rd quarter. Freshman Blee at QB continues to shine while Medlock running hard at FB. Defense was great all night. SP is playing a lot of kids which helps build teams for the future. One thing that I have seen two weeks in a row is for the opposing team to keep their first team in while SP is playing 3rd team including some kids off of the JV team. Let some of those younger kids gets some game experience and you are better off in the long run.

I hate to be that guy but I believe that South Point’s non-conference schedule is going to come back and haunt the Red Raiders later on in the season. Why is RS-Central on the Red Raider non/conference schedule? You are expected to beat EG and Lincolnton down most years but then you add RS? What happened to Clover? The SP kids haven’t been challenged by any above average teams and things like that do catch up with you. SP should have gone out and scheduled a tougher opponent to play in that 3rd non-conference game slot before conference play starts if you are truly trying to win a state title.

Clovers district split a few years back which made it harder for them to keep their big games on the schedule and still schedule the few gaston county schools they were scheduling. But I agree lincolnton has been on the down side for atleast the last 5 years but eg is sp longest "rivalry" game. I see keeping them on schedule but got to replace lincolnton and rs.

Burns, Shelby, Asheville, A.C. Reynolds, Gaffney tons of teams I think would benefit Crest and SP, hell even Chase this year would have been better than Freedom.

Crest had the county games with Burns and Shelby which are usually going to be competitive games on their non-conference. SP’s non-conference schedule of Lincolnton, East Gaston, and RS should be embarrassing to real SP football fans.

SP has historically played some very good teams. The reality is that Lincolnton and EG are not likely going away. SP scrimmaged Burns and Cannon on the road which should help in preparing for the season. Time will tell.

I really hope lincolnton can get back to what they were. As much as I'm not a sp fan that was always a good game to see
