Their fans are saying that 8 of the top 10 Mississippi kids are now committed to them.... Where are those numbers coming from. If that's accurate we could be in trouble.

What else is new? We continue to lose out on the top prospects.

His next tweet was something like "Im 100% msu, hail state, blah, blah." Stop worrying what teenagers say on twitter

Fixed it for you....

You're right especially for some. Honestly, I think I follow him but I missed that whole thing yesterday. Im in a group text were somebody copied above referenced tweet and said "uh oh". Then like 2 minutes later another guy in the group copied his next tweet that said the pro msu stuff. I don't care enough to go find the tweets but they are there

Let me assure all of you of something. We will never out recruit Ole Miss. It

ain't gonna happen and even if it does it will be spun otherwise. We are no match for their recruiting spin machine so do yourself a favor and relax and forget about it. We are pretty much dead even with them in football in the modern era and have seldom signed better classes so there is some reasoning to my logic. You feed their machine when you run around with your hair on fire every time they stage another commitment announcement.

It took me a while to learn this but it sure does feel better to ignore the recruiting hype.

My biggest concern is our coaching right now.

We have to outrecruit Ole Miss to beat them

And I'm not talking about rankings, I'm talking about actual talent of players on the field. We beat Ole Miss for several years because we had out recruited them in the past and we had better players. We had evaluated better and got better players in the program. That is how we had such an unbelievable amount of high NFL draft picks in recent years especially given our rankings. Re-ranked, the 2009 class would be insider the top 10 nationally, the best in MSU history.
Those were not Mullen's recruits. That is the problem. Most often the team with the better players wins.

I just posted what I was sent. There are NO posts like this on his actual twitter page, and that format does not look like twitter fonts. And what's with the "1. 2." stuff--that isn't twitter formatting. I thought they were fake. So you're saying they're real? If so, it doesn't look like he's softening up on his commitment--but it sure sounds like he's telling the coaching staff to tighten up.

Then Bear fans are full of bearshit

I don't see 8 top 2014 Mississippi recruits in the top 14--much less "8 out of 10." They have 4 of the top 14--AND SO DO WE.

No doubt about it which is why we have to have an edge. The edge is usually

being better coached, better conditioned and better motivated which is why we are struggling right now. We have not recruited badly we are just in some tough company.

That`s a great point and Bowling Green is a great example. According to recruiting histories we should have absolutely annihilated them.

Exactly, you have to recruit talented players but good citizens as well. I

don't want to jinx Mullen but he has done a pretty good job on the character front and keeping his kids out of the headlines. If we keep recruiting like we have done for the last few years we will be fine if we can remain solid on coaching, motivation, and game planning. We haven't had a great year in these areas this year but here is hoping we turn it around.

No surprise here

We all suspected that Mr. Speaks would commit to Ole Miss. It's not a shocker. Despite what some others and the rankings suggest, he did not impress against an outmanned Warren Central team. He did not dominate as I would have suspected against an undersized and outmanned WC offensive line. He does have good size and athleticism. I think his motor needs some work. I will reiterate that Rod Taylor was a bigger disappointment during that game. Gerri Greene is a much better player than Speaks. He is just on a less talented team that is noncompetitive. Alex Woodall looked to be about the same level athlete as Breeland Speaks to me, if not slightly better. I also had the chance to watch Malik Dear this past weekend. He is a step above Woodall and Speaks to me, but I was surprised by his stature. He is short and very stocky, not what I would expect in a standout WR. He caught some good balls and made some good moves, but he did not dominate. I hope we are looking at WC's Marcus Ragan. He seems to be a very solid athlete with very good speed and gets better each week. Good pick up for Ole Miss, but I think Mr. Speaks is ranked a little high or Mississippi has a weak senior class this year.

You say

everyone in the conf is outrecruiting us, based on some rankings, but I ask the following: what's the difference between the 7-8th ranked classes? It can't be more than a few (at most) players who are ranked on a subjective scale.

We aren`t the 7 or 8th ranked class...we`re dead *** last. And for the record I didn`t say a damn thing...Rivals did and I brought the info to the board. Subjective...objective...whatever, it sucks to be last.

Pearl will beat Callaway with not a single senior who is a D-1 prospect. Pearl does have 2 or 3 Juniors who are D-1 prospects, and a few talented sophomores.

But I repeat, Pearl WILL beat Callaway with much, much less hyped players. Brown, WR, Wright, RB, Carpenter, QB, McLauren, CB, Cooper, WR, Thompson, DE, Marin, LB, just a few of the "unknown" Pearl players who are "playmakers" who are as good as the "hyped" Callaway players.

Don't get all bent out of shape about division 2-5A so-called star football players. Weakest division in Mississippi 5A football.

And I never

said or even suggested we were. The point was, what is the difference between the 7-8th and 13-14th "rated" classes? I don't keep up with recruiting, or subscribe to any magazine. All of my knowledge of these "rankings" are gleaned from here. It seems to me, though, that the middle of the pack and the bottom are seperated by a few players that have a subjectively obtained hire rating? My point was/is, I would assume these people that live and die by Scout (or whoever) rankings would be happy if we had the 8th "best" class in the SEC.

I'm sure the top 5 classes, or so, in the league are probably considerably different. However, once you start getting past those classes, there's probably not a great deal of difference in the physical makeup of classes.

I don't care what anybody says. You don't rise above mediocrity by continually having the 13th or 14th best recruiting class in the SEC!!. This BS that we hear from some of our football coaches about "finding outstanding talent that others have overlooked" is just an attempt to make an excuse for the fact that we have consistently been out recruited by most of the other SEC programs. I can understand Alabama, LSU, Floridia, Georgia but when we are coming in behind Vandy, Kentucky and TSUN it really sucks.

Ummm why are you counting JUCO's?? That is what I hate about Scout. Not sure why you'd count 20 year old kids in college with 18 year old high school kids.

Plus, here is the Rival's MS top 20 (preseason):

1) Rod Taylor (OM)
2) DK Buford (OM)
3) CJ Hampton (OM)
4) Gerry Green (MSU)
5) Breeland Speaks (OM)
6) Devin Voorhies (LSU)
7) Markell Pack (FSU)
8) Jamoral Graham (MSU)
9) Ronald Walker (OM)
10) JT Gray
11) Aeris Williams (MSU)
12) Dayall Harris (OM)
13) Jesse Jackson (MSU)
14) Tyler Putnam (OM)
15) Grant Harris
16) Sammie Epps (OM)
17) Keontre Anderson
18) Ken Edwards
19) Alfred Dickens (OM)
20) Ethan Firth (FSU)

So, Ole Miss currently has 5 of the top 10 (and possibly may flip Pack later on). They also have 9 of the top 20 (and 4 of the top 5).

MSU currently has 2 of the top 10. They have 4 of the top 20 (and 1 of the top 5).

I also don't know where the "8 of the top 10" came from, but I'd assume it's Yancy's list if I had to guess. Any list by Yancy or Gene/Steve is sure to be discarded and not taken seriously IMO. I think this top 20 list will change drastically by the final rankings are done. I think both of us will have guys move up the list (and obviously have a couple move down or out completely).

From what I've heard from some of my coaching buddies, the Durr kid yall have committed from Harrison Central is a stud. This list will change so what is the big deal anyways?

I have to agree, Germantown had Calloway beat and just gave it away and

Germantown is average this year. The Calloway guys were not that impressive that night but I'm sure they must be pretty good prospects. Pearl has a good team.
