sportsbooks to halt ALL bets on Alabama baseball citing ‘suspicious activity’

Matthew T. Shuler, the executive director of the Ohio Casino Control Commission, made the decision after “suspicious wagering activity” was detected in the Crimson Tide’s 8-6 road loss to No. 1-ranked LSU on April 28.


U.S. Integrity, a Las Vegas-based group that monitors “data to see if discrepancies coincide with notable player or coaching events, reveal officiating abnormalities or are indicative of the misuse of insider information,” sent a warning to its clients following the game last Friday.

not sure if this is related to the arrest of Matt Self, but Self is “responsible for all areas of compliance with NCAA, SEC and UA rules and regulations, monitoring efforts and investigations. In addition, Self, a member of the department’s executive staff, oversees equipment operations, sports medicine/athletic training, nutrition, strength and conditioning and is the sport administrator for football and volleyball.”

They will take bets on anything. There have been several ITF tennis players banned over the years (ITF is like minor league professional tennis, we even have a tournament at River Hills in Jackson). People will bet on crazy things like who wins a players 2nd service game of the 2nd set. Gamblers pay players to fix that bet and it's more money than the player has made in a year, so it's kind of understandable why some of them take the money.

I thought I read that Self was arrested on a domestic violence charge. Though nothing would surprise me at that school.

Sounds to me like someone inside the Bama camp knew the guy was getting scratched and shared that info with people who placed large bets on LSU prior to the announcement which flagged the system in Ohio. I'm guessing they don't get many bets on SEC baseball and a large sum or several large sums right before that announcement pinged some system of checks

It was probably pretty easy to flag. When the only person on planet earth who bet on that (or any) college baseball game threw down something like 20 large right before the pitcher got scratched….it was a dead giveaway.

Seriously….if you’ve ever bet on a college baseball game, you might have a problem.
