Gaaaah.. I wish I had never heard that 30 missed tackle stat again.

This article makes me wonder if recruiting by the Bamas of the world will change to get better tacklers or if coaching tactics will just change.

This is rooted in the shortened time frames of spring training(2 wks) and fall practice(10 practices)!
When I played hs ball we had a whole month of spring drills and had a month of 2-a-days before our first game! Our coaches drilled fundamentals into our brain, Oklahoma, bull in the ring, and cross the Bowel were at least a third of each and every practice prior to the season.
My son is a soph, and I can't recall watching his teams from elem to now do any sort of tackling drills!
Coaches just don't have the time they need to coach the very basics!

Not according to Goat. The loss of Fletcher Cox is the reason we had 30 missed tackles and gave up 700 yards of total offense to aTm (300 of which was after contact).

The Stanford-Oregon game demonstrated that sure tackling is important to beating the a high-octane spread offense. I don't think Stanford missed a tackle the whole game despite being relatively slower than Oregon. Their recruiting classes over the past few years have been comparable to States, so it's not just a wealth of talent making the difference.

State needs to investigate their methods.
