Is the concrete painted now?

Or is that just direct sunlight reflecting?

He took them around 5:30 or 6 this evening so I imagine it's the sun reflecting. Some of the other campus buildings have the same look. I'm sure not venturing onto campus this week to find out though! Ha.

If that road eventually goes away, we could add another angled space to the other side, making is symmetrical. Maybe even looking like some kind of gang sign from above.

I say demolish the architecture building, give them a proper new building to house the entire College of Architecture, Art and Design where the current AG building is and use that space to have an awesome entry plaza for the football stadium.

Damn that looks great!

No good, but great!

However people peeking on Google Earth will **** themselves after seeing that crooked-*** crap. Forget it...don't like it. Waste of money.

I can't wait to see it done. The acoustics in there are going to off the charts loud by closing the end.

Looking at Davis Wade from the air, reminds me of Arkansas stadium...

Got to looking into their stadium and it looks very similar to what DWS will look like next year, yet has a 72K capacity. Looks like they have two levels of bleacher seating below their box suites on the top. Also looks like standing room on top of boxes.

Still hard to believe we`re adding only 6,000 seats...it looks bigger than that

you have to remember we're taking out probably a couple thousand from those bleachers. so it's probably more like 8000 in that area but only a net of 6k.

Its a 10,000 seat expansion. However, its only a 6,000 seat add because we had to take out the bleachers. The construction that you see in the picture seats over 10,000 people

I agree with this, I'm actually curious if we see a difference this season since there will technically be more structure down there. By the Bama and OM games late in the season, the entire end zone could be closed in.

The very top of Arky's is temporary bleachers that they only bring out occasionally if you look closely...(no idea where they store them)...

Also cool that they went practically all chairbacks in the endzone. That school has crazyyyy money tied up in suites and premium seating -- and probably makes a killing on it too...

It's not necessarily about the quantity of seats we're adding; it's more about the revenue that those seats generate.

Sure, we could have put in bleachers all the way up and had our stadium seat around 70,000 or so, but that's not at all what we needed. Hell, we couldn't fill that anyway. We did, however, have a huge demand for premium seating. Multiple sold out club levels puts way more money in our pockets than a 3/4 full bleacher section.

I understand that. I`m saying from the air it looks more like a 70,000 seat stadium than a 60,000 seat stadium.

Exactly

Approx revenue generation/yr(just in tickets and BDC donations):
Scoreboard Club - $1.75 million
The State Level(skyboxes) - $1.1 million
The State Level(loge) - $0.8 million
The Gridiron Club - $0.56 million(worth noting that this is not permanent seating)
Endzone general seating which is about +4800 overall general seats(assuming a total price of $600/ticket for the new areas vacated by the previous student section that will now be in the endzone) - $2.8 million

So, the 4800 new general seats actually bring in LESS money than the (about) 1600 new premium seats.

Overall, the expansion will bring in roughly an additional $7mil/yr(IF prices don't go up) without considering the increased revenue from concessions, merchandise, etc...

I think the new lowest level endzone bleachers are maroon...

Or is that just direct sunlight reflecting?
So the concrete is not painted maroon, but from above the new maroon bleachers appear that way.

The band posted pictures of their stadium rehearsal yesterday on Facebook. Looks like they'll be back in the traditional area (Section P) for this year, at least.

Cant wait til it is 100% done! I can imagine the noise level when we are hosting the Egg Bowl in '15 and the Bears face a 3rd & long from their own 12 yard line in the North end of the stadium, and Jones levels the Bear QB for a sack. We need more COWBELL-

So, in essence, this expansion will pay for itself and then some in 8-10 years.

It blows my mind how some of our fans don't get this when we talk about spending $30 Mil. on a new grandstand with premium seating in baseball.

Wow. No way in hell I would sit that high up on an aluminum blade where I can see air through large gaps between people's seats and feet.

We actually borrow them from Baum stadium during football season, they are sketchy but will be replaced when we expand to 80,000 in the next few years

Yeah, because new, young fans will be coming to the stadium in droves...

to watch the hogs try to run up the middle for 4 quarters.
