I love the "shock the world" comments (even though thats not exactly what he said). I always think... As if the world 17ing cares.

This is a bigger pickup for the basketball team than the football team. He's a quality prospect on either, but moreso in basketball.

Wait, so people who know things (i.e. pay for the recruiting knowledge), how do we like our chances regarding this young man?

Since most fans think he is ours, a real shock would be for him to commit to Ole Miss tomorrow. Which he probably will considering out recruiting luck.

So when does tsun start the flip rumors? Do they wait until before or after his ov?

They don't have to start these rumors. As of now, they are tearing our asses up in recruiting. I know it's early but its definitely not shaping up well for us. Shouldn't we get a few guys after camp ends?

At this point last year we were raping those guys in recruiting. How did that work out?

I've said this a million times. I'll take the type of guy we recruit over the kind of guy who ends up at the University of Ole Miss because some girl showed him a good time, someone gave him a REALLY good handshake, and they were gullible enough to believe they won 3 BCS national titles any day of the week. Not just saying this because I'm an MSU fan, but half of their roster wouldn't make it through a summer at MSU. I say that because I've taken a tour of the new facilities, I've seen Ole Miss's, I'm currently in classes with guys who are having to wake up at 4:30 every day now, and I've witnessed fat lazy turds come rolling out of Ole Miss since I can remember. That's worth a lot more to me than stars.

A good friend of mine is a GA somewhere and I was hanging out with him and one of the guys he works with who was a strength coach for Coach O and said coach is a huge Ole Miss homer but was very vocal about what a disappointment strength coaching is at Ole Miss.

Freeze is really taking a huge gamble. If Nkemdiche (or Tunsel or any of these other dudes for that matter) doesn't leave UOM after a true junior season and become a 1st round pick and immediate NFL presence I don't think he'll ever get another high level guy to sign with him - assuming every other school is offering the same amount of money.

P.S. If any of you get a chance to go to the Seal Complex... it's incredible. The weight room is ridiculous, and it has glass garage doors on it that open up so where they can run on and off the field for exercises in between sessions. The side closest to Dudy all the way in the back is a concrete hill half the length of the building covered in turf probably at a 45 degree angle that they have to push a sled up. I practically got winded just walking up it.

So you are glad that Robert Nkemdiche and Antonio Connor did NOT end up at MSU? Got it***

That's not what he said....but in a way that is true. You always want great players, but how did all of those attention whores y'all "beat us" on the years prior to us skull17ing you 3 times in a row work out for you?

Sure we wanted those guys, but it is far too early to tell if they pan out. We tend to develop players better, so we trust our staff.

If they're going to weigh their future football success on the stuff that got them to consider Ole Miss, yes. Nkemdiche didn't even get the name of the school right...

Hypothetically speaking? Yes I would love to have them. Would I take Nkemdiche when I have Chris Jones? No. Not at all. Nkemdiche is a headcase and a lot more trouble than he's worth. Again I say if he doesn't leave Ole Miss after 3 years, go in the 1st round, and become an NFL role player in year 1 Ole Miss is back in the same boat.

For the sake of saying 17 you anyway, Connor < Cox.

Meanwhile Jones has the same potential and an even higher ceiling, and MSU actually has a track record of producing talent instead of buying it. I can think of 2 kids to go unnoticed, sign with Ole Miss, and do something in the last 50 years - Archie Manning and P. Willie. Therein lies the difference of the University of Ole Miss and the People's University.

The original point of this argument is that I don't want people who think they're bigger than the program, and I trust Mullen in his recruitment of guys none of us have heard of, even guys just with offers from Appalachian State. I want kids who want to better themselves, embrace the best competition possible, get it done in the classroom, and then want to make the NFL. MSU isn't just a stepping stone to the next level.

Darius Slay and John Banks were not suppose to be SEC players coming out of high school and they ended up being good enough for 2 NFL teams to plug them in as starters this coming fall.

I just wish our strength & conditioning coach had considered making our guys get up early. I may send him an email in case he's not aware of this revolutionary practice. I will also inform him that he's a different individual than our strength coach under Orgeron, just in case he's not aware, since there seems to be some confusion on this point.

Unfortunately, no amount of weight lifting can change the fact that all of our players are soft, spoiled prima donnas, whereas MSU has nothing but humble, upstanding, salt-of-the-earth young men who shun the limelight and prefer to spend their time in the weight room dressed in simple cowboy or biker costumes. I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that the SEC is seeking to maximize the number of bowl-eligible teams again this year when the Egg Bowl rolls around.

Well then; you, sir, are an idiot.

Riiiiiiiiiight. Keep telling yourself that. We all saw how well "Balis Made" worked out in the 4th quarter last year.

We all continue to see Freeze's spiritual teachings help Ole Miss players see the light and stay out of trouble... give me a break...

Whether you want to act like an online badass or not, you know that egos and motivation are going to be a headline issue for Ole Miss this year. Take your head out of your ***.

Other than the Egg Bowl Ole Miss got worked over in the 2nd half more than any SEC team this year, so STFU.

When Ole Miss and MSU are recruiting the same players, do you believe that innate character flaws (selfishness, egoism, etc.) naturally steer some recruits to UM, or do you think the insidious culture of UM corrupts our players once they arrive on campus? By the same token, do hard-working do-gooders naturally choose MSU, or do they become hard-working do-gooders only after they commit to MSU? I guess it's a nature vs. nurture debate.

As if your diatribe above wasn't stupid enough, did you, as a MSU fan, just talk **** about another SEC football program getting worked over in the second half of 2012?

Do you realize that MSU went 1-5 in their last six games and was outscored like 126 to 202 in the second half of 2012?

Not much of an offer list, but I suppose we need bodies at this point.

Cord opting for baseball is haunting me. I'm hoping we sign a JUCO QB and 2 high school QBs in February. We're going to need it.

Sorry, but there is no gamble in taking the best players possible.

There is no downside at all to taking the number one player in the country. To even intimate that it's a gamble is ludicrous regardless of how bad we hate that school. They signed a good class. But that's not the formula that Dan follows and Dan's formula has brought us success over that school more years than not. Dan needs to do what Dan does and that's recruit people that fit our school and our program and our system. And then we need to coach them, develop them, and let the chips fall. I believe in Dan's formula, and I'm behind it. But to claim that there is a risk in taking top rated players is...well...it's idiotic.

I didn't claim I didn't want the best players. Of course that's idiotic.

I DON't want players that are swayed into coming to MSU because of ******** reasons, especially ones that don't know the name of the university where they will be spending the next several years and I don't think that's ridiculous. I then said I want guys that are going to grind and best people because they deserve it, not because people pegged them the next LT when he was 17 years old. I like Dan's model and it's worked out damn well for us.

And yes, me, an MSU fan, I said that Ole Miss lost games in the 2nd half. MSU lost games during the second half of the season because we stacked the schedule. Ole Miss lost games (see Texas/Alabama/every loss) in the second half because they haven't done anything off the field since arriving on campus.

I don't give a damn what they call us when they commit.

You can call us The University of Starkville for all I care. As long as you show up and help us win games, you can make a verbal mistake or two. I'll forgive you. I swear I will. And I'm not going to pretend that signing the top players in the country is a gamble, and that's exactly what you said it was. It's not. If we were to sign a Top 10 class this season, not one of us is going to claim that we're taking a big gamble. That won't cross any of our minds. At all. With the way our program is run, I don't think we have to sign Top 10 classes to be competitive. I think Dan does a solid enough job of developing guys that fit what we're doing. BUT if we ever do sign a Top 10 or Top 5 class, no one here will be wringing their hands over the big gamble that we're taking.

I've been wondering if this recruitapalooza and pecker rubbing that Ole Miss does to these recruits is a huge distraction to them. Rather, IS GOING TO BE a huge distraction to them. I mean, that's exactly how they're getting all of these guys - they are straight up treating them like celebrities and spoiling them. At some point that has to knock you off your game just a little.

Strength coach doesn't mean jack **** without better take t. Give me the best athletes any day and ill kick any less talented strength coach hero's team asses. Can't turn chicken **** into chicken salad.

Ole miss is gonna stomp our *** if they have marginally better players at a majority of the positions.

They beat a helluva lot more than Rick Ray's hard working did and will again this year. Thanks for proving my point.
