This argument is irrelevant. If stans is such a great recruiter we would produce a ton of NBA talent. I think we have it all wrong he wins with less talent then we give him credit for

you know, i've hated stans for the past 5 years thinking we could never get to the sweet 16 cause he just wasn't a big time coach. Everyone always talks about how he is such a great recruiter (including me), but not a great floor coach. I'm starting to disagree with this. Out of the big recruits he has landed, how many have stepped foot on campus? Austin, Ervin, Goodridge, Gordon, and Sharpe. I'm not going to count Rhodes and Ravern just because they are MS talent and are expected to sign with MSU.

Austin - great
Ervin - well you can answer that yourself
Goodridge - same as Ervin
Gordon - great (no matter what the Gordon haters say)
and Sharpe - head case (uncoachable)

Outlaw, Bender, Ellis never made it to campus and we still managaed to do pretty well these past couple of years. Our starting line up consists of 3 4*'s (one is from MS and expected to sign with State and another that wasn't highly recruited because of his size), a 3 star NOONE recruited, and a 1 star NOONE recruited so i'm going to say the opposite of what i've always said. Stans is a better floor coach than we say, and is not as good of a recruiter as we say.

Id say that getting commits from Outlaw, Bender, and Ellis is pretty dang good recruiting. Is it Stan's fault that they didn't come? We have gotten screwed by the NBA draft. If those guys had actually played for State then we would probably be in national title contention every year. Especially Ellis in the same class as Gordon. Since they didnt come, though, we lost out on big playmakers and were never as good as we could have been. It sucks. Our recruiting has gone down because we didnt have as great of teams since those guys never came.

Also, Jamario Moon committed to us as well but had to go to MCC because of grades. He plays for the Heat now.

Stan's did still almost pull Hopson last year. We got screwed there. And we almost got Gallon this year and we are in it for Sidney. Stans does well recruiting.

We also somehow pulled Roberts. And I really dont want to know how

They do not magically become All American talent. A coach must put them in that position. Thank you for proving my point

that Roberts was an All-Conference player before he stepped foot in Starkville right? As was Shane Power?

Its not a coincidence that 2/5 of Ricky's most successful team was coached by someone else on the collegiate level before he got his hands on them.

We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one Coach. I forgot its the correct thing to do to blame a coach everytime we lose a game. Rick puts us in position to win any game we play. We are young this year, it happens. You will see Rick make it past the Sweet 16 next year I will tell you that now
