I don't post much anymore, but thought I'd chime in on the stans-bashing.
btw: hi peaches, you still suck
Question: Is Stans the best coach ever to grace the floor of a college basketball arena?
Answer: No
The real question we have though, is he the best coach for us. He recruits well, coaches ok
and gets us to big games. He hasn't proven himself in the NCAA tourney but at least he's gotten
us there with reasonable consistency.
It takes a long time to develop a tradition, and we're not there yet. We don't have the draw of a
kentucky or duke in hoops. Hell, we're only a few steps up from ole miss, and those guys are terribad.
While not a huge stans fan, I remember the 90s, where we all bitched about Jackie Sherrill offenses,
and not throwing to tight-ends while we won games. We kept thinking there was something better,
and when we finally dropped sherrill, we picked up an offensive ***-hat named croomz. Oh ya, and
we lost a lot. At least under Stans we're not the laughing stock of the conference. Hell, we're in the upper
third, but I guess conference results don't matter to rabid, hate-stans-at-all-costs-contingent.
The NCAA tournament in hoops can be a crapshoot, as long as we get there consistently we'll have a decent
shot at doing well. While Stans isn't great, let's reserve our hard-core bashing for coaches that are really letting
us down (and losing).
Caveat: Stans can still improve a lot as a floor coach. Additionally, idk what happens but ncaa tourney prep
seems lacking. That being said, he's still doing a damn good job for us, so why not appreciate a bit more than hate?
Ps. listening to the texas whinining after the national champ game in football has been great.
cheers, and happy drinking
