Stansbury has really upped our complex offense.

Per Marcello's tweet:

Newcomer Rodney Hood, on role: "I just sit on the wing and just shoot whatever, play defense. My role has slimmed down a lot since high school. I don't have to do as much."

Ronny telling everyone that we shouldn't post basketball threads that are degrading towards our coach.

Shame on you.</p>

<div>More of the quote...</div><div>"To play w/ other great players, experienced players, I can just sit on wing..."</div><div>
</div>In the base offense, that has been something we have done going back to Williams. I think he is commenting more on not having to be 'the man' as much for this team compared to high school.

At least he understands the "offense". Hell it took Kodi four years to grasp that simple concept.

how are you able to just "sit on the wing" when you are suppose to be running a MOTION offense? At least I thought that was what we were suppose to be running.

Yeah, b/c UNLV circa 1990 didn't say that, or Nolan Richardson's good Arky teams. You guys could take the same exact quote from Larry Johnson and Dee Bost and paint it two completely opposite ways.

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; font-size: medium;">D@A is that typical douche that has no ties to Duke but loves them and has a sig pic of Lattener though, so I shouldn't expect much more</span>

I still think that is reading too much into it, the motion we run calls for a SF to go wing to wing and elbow to elbow. Tang Hamilton did it, Antonio Johnson did it, Dontae' Jones did it (albeit with a good bit more flair and athleticism), and Ravern did it. Also Iggy and Timmy (although he was operating as a point-guard-forward) as well.

Bring it on.

I'll never forget when we had UNC whipped in the NIT at the Hump and Stansbury started in with the 'Slow Down' hand motions. Yep, went into a long draught and ended up losing. Classic.</p>

I am certain we will see the Stansbury Stallput into play a couple of times this season. He likes to mix it up.

Did I go to Duke? No. Do I have ties there? Yes.

RE: Dee's quote. I made no comment on it. I just put it out there and watched people like you get all stirred up about what he meant by saying it or what I meant by posting it.

ETA the sig pic.

Well if by ties you mean you jumped on the bandwagon and shot hoops in your driveway as a 10 year old fat kid with a Bobby Hurley jersey on then I guess I could say I had ties to the Chicago Bulls

You are right. He is commenting more about not having to carry the team but he still says he can just sit on the wing. In awell coached offense, there is not such thing as just sitting on the wing. In a well coached offense, you don't just stand anywhere. But we do.

If you think a Rick Stansbury coached team would run an offense that looked anything like UNLV's, I don't know what to tell you. If Rick ran that offense, we wouldn't have any players left.

Running a run and gun would not correct that problem. Our players have always done what they wanted and thengave games away when rick tried to slow itdown. That won't change because we are running more. He'll still slow it down and 17 it up after we get a lead. The problem is that he needs to teach them a half court offense that really works. Problem is that he doens't know one or how to coach it. Until then, it'l be the same ole ****, run and gun or not. This season's success is on the shoulders of Dee Bost. Our successdepends on how well he is able to get this team to gel, despite ourcoaching deficiencies. It's as simple as that.

You evidently haven't watched many other ball screen offenses. This coach of the team on this clip has a pretty good reputation, but yet I don't see a single highlight where the wings are doing anything other than standing around and watching either a pick and roll or one-on-one basketball<div>

..we'd be sitting here busting Bury's balls over throwing too much at a freshmens who hasn't even had a chance to really practice yet.
