It is a pretty low bar either way, but at least Stansbury won some titles while he was here, being average most of the years.

We snuck out the back door by the end of this season.

And I’ll just add to that….this thread is pretty silly overall, because Stans was a really, really good coach for us. Even if Jans is not quite as good (which jury is still way out there), its not like its an insult. Most NCAA tourney appearances, most wins, and best modern era winning percentage for coaches that stayed 5+ years. The 2nd best coach we ever had besides McCarthey. Better than Williams, who went to the Sweet 16 and Final Four on the back of Stans’ recruiting….and then was so bad that he got fired 2 years later as soon as the first scapegoat excuse to do so came up.

But all that said, the sun sets on everyone at some point, and it could not have been any more obvious that he had lost all control of the program by 2012. Had zero excuses not to make the tourney in 2012, and had zero excuses to not get an at-large bid in any of his last FOUR seasons at MSU, which were years 11-14 overall.
Agree. Stans in his prime was a much better coach than most MSU fans give him credit for. And Jans is better than a lot are giving him credit for right now too.
