I have some friends that are asking me where the best places in Starkville are to eat as they are taking their kids up there for a college visit.Because of life, I never really get to go back to Starkville. I’ve been back for a handful of games, but really haven’t spent any extended time there. Because of that my food recommendations are Flo n’ Eddie’s and the grill. I don’t think that’s gonna work out for the people that are asking me where to eat. So, what say ye?

One of my favorite places to go is the Camphouse. They have a lot on the menu but I almost always get the burger/fries because it’s priced at a bargain and I’m kind of cheap. They have beers, cocktails if that’s your thing, wine.
That’s one local place that doesn’t get a lot of love.
Then the places everybody mentions, Little Dooey, Restaurant Tyler, Two Brothers.

Nicest restaurant with best food is Commodore Bob’s.

Have not eaten at Tyler in a while, but am told it’s still good. The Guest Room is neat bar underneath Tyler and you can order Tyler’s menu there.

Camphouse is good but more casual than Bob’s.

Big E’s is on Academy Rd and high end casual. Very good. Now starting to open for lunch.

Dooey, Oby’s, Cafe, Harvey’s, The Grill are all fine and are what they are.

Georgia Blue can be good.

Taste is good for Italian, similar to Amerigo.

Adaman Thai is very good. Casa Bravo is best Mexican. Bluto’s is good, especially their breakfast.

The Older Brother is awesome sandwich spot, but small so can be hard to get into.

This is a fantastic summary of starkville restaurants. I would only add Anthony's in west point is worth the drive for the Philly filet.

Boardtown pizza and their draft beer selection is second to none.
I didn’t mention restaurants in the district because I just don’t go that way, but yes, Boardtown is great. Two Brothers is excellent food as well. The food at Bin is good too. Bulldog Burger is fine as well.

Dave’s food is still top quality but it’s a dive.

I guess Stromboli’s is still good but never know when it’s open.

L’uva Wine Room is a nice spot with small plates and the like.

Cater's Market and Deli

- this is a good one if you're just looking for a sandwich and baked treat - very handy (in the same shopping center as George Sherman, lots of parking, order and pay at counter and they bring it to you) they also make party platters, have a freezer full of take-away stuff to heat at home, etc. I went there for the first time today. Here's their menu

Oh go to hell. He asked about Starkville and didn’t say a damn thing about your precious Oxford. To freaking hell with your Oxford bull ****.
Breathe. I’ve said nothing to suggest an Oxford bias or perceived “precious” status. I will say Oxford derangement syndrome is real.

Fact:

You should get therapy for that as soon as you can. It’s not a good look.
I’ve spent a lot of time and have multiple degrees from both colleges now. One glaring, 25+ year old observation. There’s zero, I mean ZERO difference between a private high school, Delta kid at State and a frat boy/sorority girl in Oxford. Both were typically raised to look down upon the adjacent population.

The fact remains is that nobody here was seeking any advice about Oxford. You need professional help with that ODS.

Prime 44 and Restaurant Tyler are as good as any place any where I've eaten.

Taste is great for Italian. Harvey's and the Grill are still very good and reasonably priced.

Roseie Baby, two brothers and Georgia blue are good. Luva is a nice hang out spot for a light meal. Big Es has great blue plates. Bulldog burger is good.

Oxford, AJax is terrible. Big Bad Breakfast... terrible. Proud Larry's average

Ajax is canned “country” food and Jiffy cornbread for people who don’t know any better. Agreed. BBB? Average. Proud Larry’s? Solid, but average. More bar than restaurant, Calzones were once solid. What about Boure’s? McEwen’s? City Grocery? Saint Leo? Volta (great Greek)? Snackbar? There are some James Beard recognitions mixed in there. Taylor’s also got something going on just a few minutes away.

Boures is good. On par with the grill and Harvey's in Starkville. I mostly go to Boures to sit on the balcony and drink and listen to all the out of state parents.

Taylor's ive been twice. It's good food but its rural setting probably gives it more hype than it deserves. It's good though

McEwen I've eaten downtown Memphis. It was great. I haven't eaten at the others in Oxford.

Boure overpriced and overrated because it’s on the precious square
Saint Leo decent
City Grocery average “we think we’re special” because we’ve been here a while
Volta good but it’s a gyro
Snack bar fart smellers getting high on their own supply

How did this turn into an Oxford thread? OP asked about Starkville restaurants, do our fans struggle with reading comprehension?

I'm sure OM has plenty of boards where you can discuss dining there.
