Fisher and Williams bring very little. Play Godswill at PF.Could he be worse or is he physically not up for it?

A change should have been made several games ago. Thought they could have flipped AJ and Simpkins for a couple of games to see how that would work. Now I think you start the guys that can produce points out of the gate. So that would be Clarke, AJ, Simpkins, Rivera and Hines. The hell with setting a defensive tone. Its broken, so fix it. It's about point production. You cannot trail by 10-15 points in every game.

Fisher has to go. Every game he comes out with energy in the first few minutes and chucks up bad shots and misses point blank layups. He kills us offensively in the first five minutes every game. He’s gotten way too many minutes even though he’s playing out of position. No brainer to start someone else over him.

What have you got to lose????? You can always give the other players minutes down the road.
Changing the lineup at least sends a message. Guys appear to be comfortable out on the floor losing. The turnovers show a team pressing. He has to change the lineup to break the bad cycle we are in. I don’t think we were as good as we thought but also don’t think we are this bad either. Law of averages says we start to hit some 3’s and shots but need to change player combos.

He better come up with something. So much goodwill was built at 14-2, 4-1 and #25 nationally ranking, all well deserved after last year. But to then collapse like this instantly with worse offense than last year is terrible.

I don't think it was all a fluke and this is reality. We're somewhere in the middle, which is good enough to contend for an NCAAT Bubble slot.

I disagree on Williams. He does a lot on both ends and is much better than I thought when we signed him. He has questionable shot selection with too quick of a launch at times, but I don't think he's a problem.

Godswill cannot play PF. He's WAYYYY too slow. He can barely play center this year because he's not in game shape after the major injury.

Fisher is one of the biggest differences in the team with the futility on offense between early in the season and now. Very disappointing for a Senior. And he was a proven Big East player at DePaul two seasons ago where he was MUCH better than this.

Last 5 games: 3/13 from the floor, averaging 2.2 PPG in 13.4 MPG.
First 15 games: 49/109 (.450) from the floor, averaging 9.0 PPG in 25MPG.

His overall season stats are WAY below his career averages now too.

2023-24 BE stats at DePaul: 31.7 MPG, .517 FG, .727 FT, 10.5 PPG, 3.5 RPG.

Payne does everything right until he gets his hand on the ball. Then he gets very soft with it.. many times I think its an easy 2 and he either goes up soft or if he gets a little bodied up and can't finish..
At this point its not anything that can be taught but it costs us points every game..

We have a few guys that are good for Sha's defensive style but are absolutely awful on offense unless it's a clean up play. But Sha loves them because of it. It's the same over and over again: Odukale, Ndefo, Addae-Wusu, you know the type he loves. Payne and Rivera are in that same bucket. They'll give you some physicality on defense but they are just adventures with the ball in their hands; too slow offensively, easy to defend. And he's usually got them on the court at the same time clogging things up.

I have the same except you have Williams in and I have AJ in. Not too many issues with Williams. I want my best 5 players on the court to start game. Play up-tempo and attack. The bottom line is you are making changes to facilitate a better offensive output to start the game. The first 7 or 8 minutes of the DePaul game were ridiculous. The Butler and DePaul games may blow the entire season if you are inclined to believe there will be a turn around. Plus, as you say the other players will stay on the floor if they contribute.

Agree with Simpkins of ASM. But I think we’re at the point that you play 4 guards + Hines

It would make sense to push the tempo a little since we struggle so much with our half court offense. Our offense is ridiculously easy to defend, as is.

Williams and Simpkins can’t be on the floor together too much. Think about something Sha said.

Godswill is god awful.
It pains me to say it but I agree. Clearly he has had injuries affecting his game. But he is zero as an offensive threat at PF and not in condition to keep up with the way Sha plays defense. He'd have 2 fouls in the first couple minutes.
