Not sure, but I'm willing to wager a few coin that it will have something to do with a foot, be one of our best players, and they will be day to day for an indefinite amount of timeWho gets hurt first?
If the pg position is taken care of and we be hurt we’ll be top 5. Yesterday was gut reaction from me but I honestly feel like we’ll be good
Always holding out hope that we will be injury free, but bad luck tends to follow usNot sure, but I'm willing to wager a few coin that it will have something to do with a foot, be one of our best players, and they will be day to day for an indefinite amount of time
I'll keep this short.
Projected starters
RJ Hampton OR Tre Jones OR Kira Lewis
Boogie Ellis (I just don't think AOC is there)
Wendell Moore
Vernon Carey
Marques Bolden
Likely order off the bench:
Hurt
Javin
AOC
Goldwire
White
Baker
We would have the potential to be quite deep, but I would still expect a short rotation. Hurt and Javin probably get the most minutes with the other guys rotating who plays based on hot hands and matchups. The other wild card is Trendon Watford. If we sign him and Hurt, the front court gets very crowded with Bolden, Jav, Carey, Hurt, and Watford.
It's not as bad as I thought yesterday. I don't think we'll be preseason top 5 with the expectations that accompanied most of our recent classes, but still a top 10-15 team. The lack of expectations on the freshmen next year may be a blessing.
If Baker is that deep on the bench I would expect him to transfer
Lewis is a transfer, right? So should he choose Duke, he'd have to sit out a year. I can't see the NCAA giving him a waver because his coach was fired at his previous school. It'd be different if he was an incoming recruit.
If Cam Johnson was able to by-pass the rule, so can this kid. I know it's a different situation, but Cam was supposed to sit out 2 years and Roy figured out a way to bend the rules, as usual.Lewis is a transfer, right? They gave tate martell the same wavier and meyer wasnt even fired, justin fields also found a loophole. With Avery getting fired its almost a sure thing he'd get a wavier.
Thanks. I didn't realize waivers were being granted that loosely. Seems odd. But, Lewis is a player and it sounds like there's mutual interest there. Will be interesting to see where it goes.
To be honest the transfer portal is now like free agency, waivers are given out like candy because they've found so many loopholes.I read somewhere they were handing them out like candy

Well how about being polite and see yourself out?I haven't done or said anything even half as bad as what you guys have been calling each other. In fact, compared to then, i've been downright polite.
Us Dukies don’t know a really rough season.Looking at these lineups bout makes me sick. Going to be a rough year next year fellas.

Wonder why they are they leaving out Boogie.Roy's clever handling of the Cam Johnson transfer ( thru channels of Jon Swofford and working his former Kansas asst, and then Pitt coach Kevin Stallings) led to landing Johnson. Although it was an easier route given Johnson was a Grad Transfer it still established precedent in the conference as far as intraconference hoops transfers.
As far as lineups next year, I guess we're deeper than we thought! Caught this tweet yesterday and it has one GLARING OMISSION:
OFC
Wonder why they are they leaving out Boogie.
I think Boogie is better than some of McD AA's we have had past years.Well idk how good he is but he’s a 4* and K’s track record with that would be not play him

Elliott Williams (I was wrong on him)
taylor king
lance thomas
boateng
greg paulus
thompson
dockery
to name a few. I believe Boogie will have a much more meaningful impact on the team than all of the above. I know paulus played a ton, but he held duke back big big time.
Yeah Elliot was pretty good at memphis, but he just wasn't at duke. that was one of the time i questioned K based on game productivity. I thought Elliot should have had almost all of Greg's minutes.I hope you’re right but elliot was good.

Greg Paulus frosh and Sr years are probably the only player in the same ball park as bad as Cam was this year offensively. But Greg didn't take nearly as many shots as Cam, so the impact probably wasn't as bad. Greg was just much worse defensively than Cam. Ugh, bad memories.Agree
I read that too. I think recently, perhaps the NCAA sees the BS around coaches being able to up and leave while their players have to sit a year. I don't know.... I just feel like the transfer bug will bite Duke again in the next season or so. A lot of players who would start at 90% of schools who may get tired of riding the pine.I read somewhere they were handing them out like candy

The players who could transfer, may really develop if they got to play more. They could conceivably be really good 4 year players like a Scheyer or Smith. Players that championship teams need. It's the OAD debate I guess. Play 5 star freshmen or develop 4/5 star 3-4 year players.
