And a week ago we had no clue that Tee Shepard was back in play and now it looks like a great opportunity to get him. Big time talent. Griffin had a great time and we made up a lot of ground but all the experts have been telling us that we only have a small chance because of the distance and the amount of time we have been recruiting him. Nobody should have had him in the top 6 of our possible gets. Still time that things will change again before Wed, let it play out and be excited for the ones we do get.

And that's disappointing. To say our recruiting has been underwhelming is an understatement

We are about to pull an elite CB and our recruiting is underwhelming? Pulled a great receiver late last year in Ross but we can't close? Every school, including Bama, miss on guys late. Let it finish and just be happy for who signs. I guarantee you will enjoy recruiting a lot more instead of always gripping about the one who got away. They won't win or lose a game for us in the future.

Friday 247 had several predictions of trey carter to us. What happened?

It's recruiting. Let it play out. We didnt know if we would get Chris Jones until signing day. The odds went down on Carter and he may not flip but we are not out of it. He may not be a qualifier but if he does great. If not then we get him in a great JUCO system.

I'd be more excited if he was an elite offensive lineman or wide receiver. I see Shepard and I just wonder how much better is he than Calhoun, Love, and Redmond.

And this SOUNDS like a stupid *** post 3 days before signing day.

Do we have more negative fans than other schools or is it just me? I mean why in Hell post this before these potential recruits are barely out of Oktibbeha county? Where did you HEAR this? ANd what purpose does this thread serve to in any way help the school you supposedly support and love? Just DUMB

Probably that 247 and all the rest of the sites don't really have a 17ing clue what these kids are going to do & ae just guessing. We used to give Gene hell for "buckles will be a bulldog" but their predictions really aren't any different.

Just keep posting "Stars dont matter!!" over and over and over, and before too long you will start to believe it.

JT Grey, Grant Harris, Tee Sheppard, Elgton Jenkins (same ratings as Rawlings but taller), and probably one of Cory Thomas/OJ Smith/ Marcus Griffin. That is not a thud finish. Maybe sign and place Ravian Pierce as well. If he had the grades he'd be much higher rated.

OJ Smith and Marcus Griffin were loving life last night. OJ was telling everyone he could that he was going to flip to the Bulldogs and Marcus was decked out in maroon from head to toe. I personally think from being around them last night that both will be dawgs

Depending on who you ask, Jamoral Graham and Jesse Jackson are pretty close to being elite receivers.

Keep being a sheep

and toeing the OM party line.

"Mullen can't beat anyone from the west but OM."

"Mullen can't beat a top 25 team."

"Mullen can't beat a top 20 team."

Blah blah blah

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

We just received commitments from three very good players. Tee Shepard is an elite corner and brings the wood when he gets there. You will not be disappointed to see him in Maroon. JT Gray is an excellent athlete and has quality offers, but a little underrated. Elgton is probably as good a recruit as Rawlings, has the raw talent but needs to refine his skills. Marcus Griffin seemed to have a great visit. Not as sure about OJ, but if we pick up Griffin, OJ, or Grant Harris then we will have finished strong no matter what Trey Carter does. Graham and Jackson were very highly rated WR so I think our class is good with WR, especially considering the young talent we already have on the roster. This 2014 class fills a lot of team needs already and I like it a lot. I think we have quality guys at need positions. Anyone else that commits will only make it that much better.

Agree. Plus we are currently ranked 62 spots ahead of Northern Illinois in the Race for the Recruiting National Championship Crown....which aint to shabby considering they are one of the best teams not in a power conference that "doesn't" have to play Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M every year and at least one of UF, UGA, or USC every few years.

Nice close if we get everyone committed and pick up one more 4*.

Why so much venom? They're not throwing darts blindfolded with their predictions. If Steve calls Trey Carter and he says "I'm signing with MSU" and he tells our coaches the same, then i would pretty good about my prediction of Carter signing with MSU.

You are basing that on what? His high school and JUCO film? I'm basing my thoughts on watching those 3 guys perform against actual SEC receivers.

This time last year, we all thought Justin Cox would be a can't miss prospect.

I agree with what your saying, in the sense that you don't know until they actually are put in against SEC competition how good they are. They all have to develop. Just look at the three high rated DL over the last few years. Only one has lived up to that rating. Our highest rated OL hasn't broke the two deep. But by the same token you have to try and get the most talented player you can that will fit and hope they buy into the program and develop. Unfortunately you can't wait to recruit a guy until they have played against SEC competition that's why coaches have to be part soothsayer and developers of young men. You are also comparing three guys who are older and have been developing in the program against someone from the outside. Very difficult to compare but the projection is he can be as good if not better once he develops.

dang boys, I like the hell out of OJ Smith tape on Hudl

That boy has got the goods.

we need DT help for the future. I think he might be able to come in and play quickly. I like the hell out of his ability. I like his feet for a big man, fighting off those cut blocks, and chasing to the sideline. Running backs down.

No wonder Bama wants him. We need that dude.

Rosie just said Griffin to Arizona, we may still have an

outside shot with Smith but unlikely. It looks like Harris ours at this point and there may be some drama on Coleman with Arizona State. I'll be glad when tomorrow is over*.

Are we just planning on eating the DL scholarships we have available? I'm assuming we'll add a late DL signee.

Shreveport Times said Smith wouldn't sign with anyone tomorrow. Doesn't seem good for us.

Actually I would say him not signing tomorrow might be ok for us. He is waiting

to see how everything shakes out at Bama and I'm sure we told him we would wait on him. We might give those schollies to folks like Marcus Green or possibly one of the Grenada boys but I don't have any inside knowledge to say we will.
