Sadly, we may be lucky to see 1 competitive game next week.
Yes, St. Francis against Providence is likely to be the only competitive game.

In the meantime, the CCL/ESCC is 36-5 in the playoffs against teams from other conferences. That is an .878 winning percentage. It will be interesting to see how long Fenwick can hang around with the Flyers. Fenwick lost to Mt. Carmel by only seven points.

With how the games will go next week I think we need to play one addional week with three games where the winner of title games play each other.

First Saturday in December...

1A winner LeWin vs. 2A winner Wilmington
3A winner Byron vs. 4A winner Montini
7A winner BR vs. 8A winner MC

No point in putting provi or franny against ESL.

LeWin vs. Wilmington would be a good game and gotta get a jump on week 2 next year.

Byron vs. Montini, have to settle the score, each team has won once.

BC vs. MC was solid the first time around.

Rita/Rice has a chance to be a good one, Rita is playing much different than early in year.
I do agree--the game should be closer than Week 3. In that game, QB Armbruster and #1 WR Walter Jones did not play.

Back up QB Junior #8 Fennel really didn't have a chance without really any reps.

Score was 7-3 with around 45 seconds to go before Half. Rita punts a 2-yard punt around the 25 yard line, and before you know it, it's 14 - 3. If the punt goes normal, I don't BR scores and it's still 7 - 3 with Rita having some confidence.

In the end, the better team won. Just saying that this rematch very well might be closer.

70% of the remaining teams in classes 4A through 8A are from one conference. At the beginning of the playoffs, members of that conference represented only 8% of the teams participating in those five brackets. That is true domination. Is it healthy for the sport?

IHSA made immediate changes after last years state finals. Wonder if they’ll do anything this year after all the blowouts that are coming.

1 Corinthians 15:57:
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

All roads to the state title, at least in 3A on up, go through the Chicago Catholic League.

My picks
8A: MC (blowout)
7A: BR (south side dog fight, Rita will give them all they can handle)
6A: Fenwick (you heard it here first. Friars become giant slayers)
5A: Franny (shootout, last possession wins)
4A: Montini (blowout)
3A: Byron (blowout)
2A: Wilmington (blowout)
1A: Lena Winslow (blowout)

I think this is a very interesting stat. We have alot of proud CCL guys here who will point to this and use it as an example of the extraordinary dominance the CCL has over the rest of the state. But also at the same time complain how unfairly they are treated with the SF. Not sure how one can have both thoughts simultaneously.

Best game will be 7A Brother Rice vs St Rita, Brother Rice doesn’t need to throw the ball to win, sliced their defense the first time around and turnovers kept it close 28-10.
Rita’s QB and WR were both out that game so offensively they will be able to throw more depending on the weather.

Providence vs St Francis will be a good one as well, similar to Rice/Rita, St Francis tough air game and Providence tough run game

Little side note, SF has and will power run if needed. Not what they want to do but they have a big solid OL with a 210lb RB, they can run if the weather is complete garbage.
