Minnesota is currently 4-5. We should beat them but first game in a true road environment you just never know. It would be a bad loss.

Which looking at their schedule so far - would you like SEC conference play to start earlier? I hate everyone starts while the students are gone. It's almost like a neutral site game especially for our home games.
I like that some leagues get a few conference games in while students are on campus before break. Kinda helps get the basketball hype going before they come back. It's much better than late Dec./early Jan. when they are all gone

We got screwed on the schedule this year, we play our two biggest rivals at home in late December/early January before students are back.

I’m going to assume we beat Jackson State and Nicholls next week, so with that in mind I think if you just split the Minnesota and Drake games you have to be very pleased with things going into conference play. We’ll have a big non-con home game against TCU in January but Minnesota and Drake are the two big ones between now and the Bama game.

If we’re 11-1 when we play Bama then I’ll be pumped. And heck, 10-2 is probably the worst case scenario and that’s perfectly fine too. 12-0 and the wool will be massive around here as we start SEC play. We’ve really put ourselves in a good position, those two wins of Fort Myers could end up being massive for us as the season goes on.

I think we win. Minnesota looks just as bad at home as on the road.

Just realized Minnesota is in the 240’s of the NET. That’s all very fluid this early in the year, but yeah, that probably needs to be a win. Drake is at 59 so you could definitely survive a loss to them.

I like our chances of beating MN & Drake even though both are road games so I'm seeing 12-0.

I'm really curious to see how we handle the Drake game. In the past, that's the kind of game where we'd out-athlete them but they'd be much better coached and we'd probably lose. But Jans seems to have the guys playing tough, hard-nosed D and that gives you a puncher's chance against almost anyone.

When is the last time we played Minnesota in anything? Basketball getting a lot of different opponents. I like. Makes it interesting. And we are actually well coached and talented

They don't look near as good as last year's team. We should win. Don't think they'll have the rabid crowd they normally do when they have a really good team.

But we are more athletic AND better coached so…

Do you realize that it's been 19 years since we went through the non conference play undefeated? We need to do that. We are close.

If we can do that, then we better pack the Hump. If you've been waiting for the team to show something, well, they have.

That was a pretty good team as I recall (17 Xavier).

I know. And also remember, we had previously beaten Xavier that season.

Oh I definitely remember. Was at the Starkville win over Xavier.

We caught them playing much better than they had all season. They came within 3 points of beating Duke for a Final Four trip.

I'll just say before we get started. I have a feeling this Minnesota team will be better than they were last year when all is said and done.

We need to get a lead and hold it in our first true road game. I think our big experience advantage will overcome their home and size advantage

Would like to see a 10 point win in our first game as a ranked team.

I hope we make them miss Tubby Smith. I still remember him stomping his foot when he was coaching Kentucky at the Hump.

I can't remember the last time my fault saw someone get a foul for putting their hands on somebody while they both are standing still.
