What are the current restaurants in there now?
I miss the late 80s/early 90s union. It had a Wendys in it. AND the Bully Shop. AND a bowling alley.

The state of that union was SCRONG.

ETA: Unless you were claustrophobic. If you suffered from that heinous phobia, the Bully Shop was the last place on earth you probably wanted to be, especially on a game day.

The old union before they did the demo/reconstruction was legit. That Bully Shop was on the Bottom Floor and yes it got cramped in there, but I personally miss it. I also miss University Dining Services and Gooch's Deli. (Back when the University controlled the dining services and the employees were Mississippi State employees) Contracting it out to Aramark was a grave mistake and they knew it too.

Ahh the good ole days. That was a great place to hang out. Especially during cheerleading camp!!!

The Great Wall...don't ask the origin of the meat.....just enjoy it with the other 4 pounds of rice and sauce-covered goodness.
In the '90s I ate at some Chinese place in the Union - not sure if it was the Great Wall or not. But they had fantastic vegetable fried rice.

State of the Union... The Great Wall.... Read in your most Trumpiest voice - "Great Wall??? Their wall isn't really that great. It may be long. But its old. Its crumbling. WE HAVE GREATEST WALL! Greater than all others... It's the greatest ever. It's beautiful. Biden had them stop building it and opened sections of it. But now it's back! Bigger and better than ever!... So great."

I went to State when they first got Panda Express. That place was on point, especially if you knew someone fixing your plate.

What were the restaurants in the Union in the late 90s?

Great Wall, Wendy's (?), and Subway? Was there a 4th one?

Wasn't there a Taco Hell? There was in the mid-90s. It's where my vegetarian Indian friend said you could eat the best bean burritos (you know, the ones loaded with ground "beef").

Don't think so. The only taco bell I remember was on 12.

It was certainly there. Along with the Great Wall, Subway, and Wendy's. You never forget the look of horror when a friend violently expels burrito remnants and starts scraping his tongue while you and others are dying laughing as he cusses you in Hindi.

Not sure. There was a Burger King by the laundry mat, I believe.
Yes, I loved that Burger King, or BK Lounge as we called it. It later became a Steak n Shake.

Fun football memory from the 90s: I went into that BK after we a football game where we beat Kentucky, and there were four Kentucky fan dudes in there crying.

Fun times.

Is that another Burger King and not the “log cabin” one where Chick-fil-A is now on 12?

It was Taco Bell, which was always packed.

Coming from McCool - Wendy's, Subway, Great Wall, Taco Bell
For some reason I just don't remember TB.

Speaking of... remember when sour cream and black olives were standard? Those were the days...

I was there from '90-'94 ... think that was just before they redid it and added the 4 places everybody's talking about (Great Wall, Subway, etc.). Don't know if there was anywhere to eat in the Union when I was there. There was the cafeteria, which was solid, and what pizza place was down there on one end of it? Mazzio's, I think? And then Gooch's was over by the laundry place if I'm remembering right. You basically had to get on 12 to get anything else.

I wish I could unremember it.

The source of ill-timed gastric discomfort.

Yes. There was at one time. When I got there it was the State Fountain Grill or something like that. Cafeteria style burgers fries etc.
