Does anyone know if State uses all four years of your transcript when deciding to give you the OOS tuition waiver? Thanks.

MSU doesn't offer an out of state waiver. It is considered a scholarship that comes out of the general scholarship pool. For 2010, he initial scholarship is based off of you having a combination of a 3.0 cumulative gpa and a 24 ACT. You are required to maintain that gpa through your senior year and into college to keep the scholarship. If you have questions you should call admissions and scholarships.

If you were born in Mississippi out of state tuition is waived. Would you fit this category?

mine was waived. and they base it on your cumulative GPA, and it is checked every spring semester towards the following fall.

so they based it from 9-12? OM and LSU give the waiver out once you are admitted and after you have completed all four years. if what the other poster said is correct the MSU ''waiver'' is done in february.

if they give you a scholly out of high school, you probably won't lose it before you start school. but it will be evaluated the next spring semester in college based on your GPA to that point. if it dips below the prescribed number it will be pulled, but can be appealed.<div>
</div><div>i would imagine that state and ole miss handle their scholarships more similarly than LSU & ole miss do. there are state guidelines for doling them out given by the IHL in terms of the process, whereas LSU's would likely be supplemented by hope scholarships. i would recommend calling the office of admissions and scholarships at state though, they're very helpful and pretty expedient at that. you can call them at 662 325 2224. or e-mail [email protected]</div><div>
</div><div>i had a nightmare when i dropped engineering, and after a month or so of dealing with various individuals i sought them out and had everything smoothed out in an afternoon.</div><div>
</div><div>edited to fix a redundancy</div>

I NEED my senior year to be counted when getting this waiver or however it is described, I've made the right ACT score and I'm on the borderline of having the right GPA. With the courses I'm taking I can easily get to that mark and get the scholarship, I'm just not sure that State counts more than 9-11th grade. I've talked to both LSU and Ole Miss and they have confirmed they count all four years of your high school transcript(there is no feb deadline for the waiver), and I have not heard back from State. It's dissapointing to say the least, I'm going to be a depressed mother17er if I'm forced away from State.

As of Spring semester 2010, and new students enrolled must meet all three requirements (including military service), not just the "born in Mississippi" requirement, to get a full out-of-state tuition waiver. See details here.

You were probably under the impression it was waived, but it technically is a scholarship and has been advertised as such for around eight years.

MSU just contacted me, and if what I was told is correct I may already qualify for the scholarship. I could be wrong(pending) but MSU takes the GPA you made overall at your school if they provide it or they calculate it themselves if it is not.

Having people pay in-state is a hell of a lot better than losing kids who don't want to pony up 12-13k a year. I really think OM is going to be in trouble unless they start waiving the **** out of the OOS tuition. That's what, 40% of their base?
