All this talk about sidewalk alumni and etc. There has got to be some good stories out there.

Mine.......best I got....1999....went to Tuscaloosa with a good friend and Bama fan (yes, he went to school there). Anyway, he takes me to a tailgate. There is another State fan there with his Bama friends. So, this State fan and I kinda watch out for each other. Well, he was bold enough to have his cowbell and he kept ringing the hell out of it. Well, the State fan gets a few in him, gets a little tired, and starts getting careless with the cowbell.....leaving it on the table, chair, etc. So, the Bama fans start hiding it. However, they did not notice I was paying attention. So, when the dude starts looking for the cowbell, I casually tell him where they hid it. He finds it and goes off again ringing the hell of it. This goes on quite a few times. Until, this one Bama guy is getting visibly pissed that the State fan keeps finding the cowbell. So, he accuses his brother, Bama friend of State fan, of telling the State guy where the bell is hiden. So, the cycle happens for the 3rd or 4th time. State finds the bell. Bama fans gets pissed and starts cussing his brother. Which results in the two almost coming to blows. Bama fan finally says f* it and goes to the stadium. They never figured out it was me. Maybe you had to be there.

friend of mine got my cousin and i tickets to the game. failed to tell us they were in the bama faculty section. had a few before the game & really never felt more isolated than when State stopped bammer on the goaline to end the 1st half. we were jumping and yelling for a few seconds before we realized that no one else was even standing up. needless to say, the stadium emptied out fairly quick in the second half, and we ended up being the only people on the entire row.

/to give a little credit to the bammers, we really didnt get heckled/harassed much. especially after State pulled ahead.
//yeah, i know. no fights or real exitement. but it was one of the better feelings during the Croom error.

I was in the student section and watched us demolish Bama for the Kang's record-setting win at MSU.

Everyone was waving white towels that day, and it was one of the best feelings I can remember having as an MSU fan.

Every time we had a decent play (which was rare I grant you) me and a couple of buddies would stand up and cheer, and every time we did this we heard "Hey sit down you gd mfer's........ we coulda hired that n***** coach if we wanted him!"

I thought there was going to be a riot because the band would not quit playing, and nobody could hear what the Kang was saying.

I had a bit to drink before and during the game. I was sitting in the endzone and was yelling as loud as possible and standing on the bleacher shooting a double bird at the AL football team. A cop in the endzone told me to sit down so I did what anyone else would have done and I shot him the bird. He radioed in my postiion and they hauled me out. This was during the third quarter. The cop escorted me to the gate and said "Have a nice night" and then he left. I watched him walk off and then I just walked right back to my seat. I fought the law and I won.

Had too much to drink. I dont remember much about the game but was sitting in the Alabama student section. I left the game and went back to a buddies apartment. We were leaving to go out and was stopped by a cop walking to the car in the parking lot. Spent the night in the pink room.

think it was 1997, when JJ ran all over them...Pick and I were sitting in the end zone where JJ scored that long decisive TD...

Pick and I had had a few drinks before the game and were giving the Bammer fans hell around us, calling Freddie Kitchens "Fat Freddie" every 2 minutes...and the better we played, the louder we got. Then we switched to ragging them about the Bear no longer being there and the 90's were now "our time"....Bammer redneck in front of us would just talk about bammer's history, all their bowl games, and how Mississippi State should never say a word when they play in Tuscaloosa. So we got louder. He keeps making comments, and now other people around us start ragging on him too.

JJ scores to put them away and this redneck is about to snap. He is almost in tears. He turns and looks at us trying to decide if he really wants to fight or not. He decided not to make that leap (not saying we were badasses, just that he decided not to do it...) he grabbed his coat, starting to leave, mumbling about how they built the SEC and can't believe they could lose to us. The whole 3-4 rows around us just start yelling at this fool as he is leaving, wearing him out.

Great day

I bought the 1996 game tape from MSU TV. It is tough to pick out but after the goal post come down. I am seen running with the guys toting one of the upper rights. When it is headed south towards the field house. But that night, I ran past Eric Dotson.......that dude was/is gigantic. I let Eugene Clinton ring my cowbell. I stayed out there along time trying to find him to get it back. Good times.

1997....I was there too. It was a strange day. That place was lifeless. If I remember right, I got a ticket for $10. I know I sat on the 50 in the chairbacks. We sat down and an older gentleman ask us if we are in the right seats. He did not appreciate us to say the least. As the game winds down, the State fans in the corner are getting loud. So, we leave to join them. The guy says enjoy it now because it won't last long. I said well that makes two years in a row. Ole dude flipped me off.

Anyway, by Pick, I assume you mean Pickle? I have probably met or seen you then. It would have been years ago but......

I do remember rushing the field and hugging Larry Friday after the game. I think that's me with the long hair and the blue long-sleeve shirt.

The Dock was so crowded that night the pier fell in.... Then Sunday when we got back to campus we had an impromptu parade around campus. A few players and fans in the back of about 20 pick-up ringing the hell out of our bells for a couple of hours.... Awesome.

1996 - I still have a nice little section of endzone turf in a bag with the game ticket. First time I'd ever rushed a field. I was 12.
1997- My dad and I went to Tuscaloosa for JJ's huge game. Sat right behind the baseball team Piatt, Thoms, Freeman...and a few more. I remember Piatt being drunkenly out of control and almost fighting several Bama fans. That was my first trip there for a game and I remember thinking that no matter how bad *** Bama thought they were, that we had beat them 2 years in a row and could talk all the **** we wanted because they knew we would probably beat them in the future.
1999- The memory that sticks out is the old man in his 80s sitting next to me somehow ended up with a huge booger on the top of his nose. It was disgusting to the point that I kept 'accidentally' brushing his face with my pom-pom trying to knock it off.
2006-I was on the sidelines shooting highlights for work and was in disbelief that we were about to pull it off. When I went on the field at the end to get a shot of the coaches shaking hands I framed Croom up and followed him. I kept thinking that Shula was going to walk into the picture but he didn't. After a few steps, I turned my camera to look for him and....BAM....I ran right into Shula, nearly knocking the camera out of my hand. Shula looked at me in pure disgust and I just laughed.
2007- I should still be apologizing to the girls sitting behind me in the student section during the interception return...well, if they hadn't been just as excited as me. My buddies and I were standing already, and as soon as AJ picked it we started going nuts. I followed him to the 20, then I took a look over to see Titus Brown giving JP Wilson the business. Once I looked back he was at the 40, and I knew he was gone. The next time I saw AJ he was under a pile in the south endzone. From the 40 to the EZ, I soaked every person within a 15 ft. radius of us with Charter and Coke. Pretty much tackled two or three people and nearly broke my leg jumping in circles on the bleachers. Awesome moment.

Me and buddy were riding through dowtown Jackson. I was driving and he was sitting on the door with one leg in and one leg out. He was waving a bottle of JD and hitting it every chance he got, while I rang a cowbell out my window. We passed a cop - all he did was flash his blues and keep going.

Nov 1 1980 the day I ceases being a Rebel and became a Dawg.

Went to game w/State friends hoping to see #1 bama romp and laugh-changed my mind about 1/2 thru 3rd Q.

1992 Oh so close...

2003.....left a 1/2 time....had to be the worst game I've ever witnessed a MSU and I've see some stinkers.

Sacked QB on Tide's 2nd play....then Prothro breaks loose on screen and goes all the way. I hated our AD for not firing JWS after 02.

A friend of mine to say the least is a lightweight, so the night before the Alabama game he went with some girl to a sorority formal. Needless to say he wasn't budging the next morning to go the game and instead he was sleeping his hangover at the Fraternity. He said that when AJ picked off JPW and took it to the house that the stadium noise was enough to wake him up (which isn't easy). I rubbed it in his face for the rest of the season that he probably missed the best football game of his college career and he didn't even score after Sorority Formal.

That's the most whiskey I've ever taken into Scott Field and we used every bit of it. The endzone-to-endzone whiskey shower was epic. The only downside was one of our friends was in line getting the next round of cokes, trying to beat the halftime crowd. Best football experience of my scholastic tenure at Mississippi State.

I just remember it being cold as hell and raining.
JJ was the man that day he ran all over Bammers D.
Hey Coach do you remember at the end of the game being the only people left in the stadium was all the
State fans in the endzone.
And the players Put Jackie on their shoulders and came over to the end zone and to celebrate with the fans that was Great Times.

That took us to the game. Left at 8 am and there were a hundred great stories from that day. The short of it was the bus drove 40 mph and we got to the game just at gametime and everyone on the bus was hammered, not just drunk, but f*#ed up drunk. No one had eaten breakfast and we all started drinking vodka/whiskey at 8 am. It was one of the greatest games in MSU history and I have no memory of it except standing on the field after the game. The good old days!

Also, about 2AM, me and a buddy ate at Krystals with Nikia Greer. RIP, Krystal.

Cold as a Mother17er. Like Frances said I think it was 2 or 3 skydivers that came in and 1 face planted right there in front of God and everybody. I was in the 6th grade at the time. That was the first time I smelled the sweet nectar from Kentucky and saw goal posts ridden to the ground. A hell of a first game to go to.

but he didn't have to do it very often because he usually won. I read that he congratulated the LSU players in 1982. Maybe he just did that in his older days when he was the Legend.

I had just graduated with a EE degree in May of 1980 and joined a Silicon Valley high tech firm. I was in Palo Alto, CA on the day of the MSU / Bama game (attending an internal training class) and a local co-worker of mine invited me to a game at Stanford University. I had the opportunity to see John Elway versus Oregon State that day. The attendance was so-so and my buddy kept telling me about how great their halftime band show would be... I was thinking, "Halftime show? Pac-10 football is a joke, but that Elway could sure sling the football".

My buddy had just graduated from Princeton, so he kept ragging me about going to MSU.

The biggest cheers of the day occured when they announced the Mississippi State / Alabama score. They announced it early and often and the crowd roared when it was a final...

I told my buddy that MSU would kick Princeton's high-IQ asses on the football field as well...

Drunk as hell from tailgating. Carried two sixpacks in my heavy coat with my then fiance (now ex) and friend. Freely drank beer in the stands without anyone bothering us. Had extra tickets so I left the game at halftime to get more beer. Kept mockingly yelling a ten-second-long "Roll Tide" after every Bama f up and State score thereby thoroughly irritating the Bama fans surrounding us--too drunk to care whether I'd get the **** kicked out of me (or perhaps get sat on by the fatass Bama fan directly in front of me). Taite managed the game well and led State to a close win.

in pursuit of worthy celebration after the '96 Bama game. I was about to have knee surgery (and also thought I had a chance with the hotness that was Bama's engineering ambassadors president sitting by me, "thought" being the key word there) so I stayed in the student section during the postgame activities, but also witnessed at least half of the students almost brilliantly clear the top chainlink fence on the east side.

Chunks of clothing, blood/flesh, hats, shredded cups...you name it, it was hanging off that fence after the game. It was like the Berlin Wall during a power outage when the final horn went off. Awesome experience.

how in Hades we won that game. I think Alabama had something like 8 NFL players on their '96 defense. And some guy named Su. Alexander or something.
