Latest TSUN titillation:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf-...s-of-northwestern--mississippi-001611992.html

He admits that he his model is flawed. But his number for TSUN is understated because sending no players to the combine puts your program at *null* (or 119).

On the other hand, I feel that both of our numbers are representative of our season. The better programs in the model were closer to zero, meaning they played closer to their talent level. This shouldn't surprise us given our ***'s 2nd and 3rd recruiting classes. But it is refreshing to know that they are developing players and sending them to the combine in years 4 and 5. It also means that teams (NU and TSUN) overachieved on account of us.

Your spin?

Interesting model and further proof that Mullen completely **** in the bed last year. Even after getting skull humped by Bama and aTm, a 10 win season (including a bowl win) was a very good possibility. Not one single person, staff and players included, prepared for, showed up for or gave a damn about the Egg Bowl or the Gator Bowl.

And some are blaming our students, Starkville and everything else that comes to mind for any and every recruiting problem we may have had this year while acting like the cluster 17 way we ended this season had nothing to do with it. I say ********.

I agree. Things may have turned out very differently if we had finished the regular season 9-3 and the Bears 5-7. But, that's not what happened, so 17 debating it. Mullen, Koennig, Collins et al need to get their **** together or we are staring down the barrel of a 5-7 season.

We all get it, we underachieved, especially against Ole Miss and Northwestern. Still a good season. Hopefully Mullen has learned from those mistakes. If it happens again in 2013, we'll talk. Until then, quit whining and just support the team.

I agree with this idea. But let's REALLY realistic here. Our season's performance was based pretty much by 2 games. I knew we would lose to Bama. So that games out, I knew we'd lose to LSU, and honestly after seeing Johnny football I counted it as a loss as well as their T's we too good to keep Johnny in the pocket (which is what LSU & everybody else did to beat him). So it really comes down to 2 games. The Egg Bowl and Gator. Both of which the offense just didn't show up. We can argue all day, fact us we created enough turnovers in the first half alone to put the Egg back in Starkville. It didn't happen! Then believe it or not there was undoubtedly a carry over from the Egg Bowl to the Gator for Tyler and the offense. As many of you have said Collins had the defense playing more aggressively and getting after people. But the INTs/TOs were too much to over come. It reminded me of watching a Croom game. Good defense terrible offense. Our offense performs in those two games we aren't even having this discussion. PERIOD!

Yea, and if ifs and buts were candy and nuts..... Forgot which coach said it but its true, in the end your team is what your record says it is. We were an 8-5 team because we weren't able to be any better than that when it counted. And to be honest we really didn't lose any competitive games which at least OM can claim. Both the OM and NU games for us were, for all intents and purposes, over by early in the 4th quarter.

This again?

in 2010, Ole Miss went 0-8 in the SEC and lost the Egg Bowl convincingly on their own field. They still recruited very well. The on-field results are just a part of recruiting. The town, the atmosphere on visits, the coaches- are all part of this as well. Why you cant see and acknowledge that is beyond me

So if Starkville was more like Oxford and MSU students were more like UM students we would recruit better ?

You seem to have trouble coming to grips with the fact that the Nkemdiches just liked Ole Miss, for whatever reason. Nutt gave Denzel a chance and it worked out for them. Robert Nkemdiche is the only reason, the ONLY REASON, they got Tunsil and Treadwell (and Kamara, but he's not one of the hype guys). Those 3 guys made their class what it was. The rest of them were just run of the mill recruits, typical of what they always get.

If you want to say they paid them, feel free. I'm sure they did to some degree. But it wasn't the town, students, etc. that some of you want to use to rationalize. It was Robert Nkemdiche. Who cares anyway, it's time to move on. Robert has nothing for YOUUUUUUUUUUUU

I see it a different way. While I love what Mullen has accomplished here, I don't think anyone will deny he showed some complacency, or at least appeared that way. Ole Miss had some success and I think it yanked Mullen's helium head back out of the stratosphere. Now look at the coaching staff we have now, plus a little stoke back on the fire.

We won't go 5-7.

well their coaches must be unreal recruiters because the times that recruits visited Oxford in 2010 during a game would have resulted in them seeing over half the crowd walk out at half time. I realize they also can visit after the season is over and that is the atmosphere you are likely highlighting though.

For the record, I do not in any way, shape, or fashion blame our students for recruiting troubles. They don't get paid the big bucks to make it happen.
