Don't understand why we don't go big. Barry Stewart averaging 33 min/g and 40% shooting from field (35% from 3). Why not have Bost and Ravern play 1 and 2 move Kodi to small forward and have Osby and Varnado. Osby is shooting 55% from the field. Can always bring in Phil, Barry, and Wendell. We are averaging over 24 3pt attempts per game. Getting old living and dying by this.

He's over at ND shooting 51% from the field, 49% from 3pt range and has a 3.45 assist to turnover ratio

I know there were other issues that might have led to his transfer but we sure miss him on our current team.

I agree that I feel Osby is the missing link here. We need to start him at the 4 over Kodi in my opinion

coach himself out of a job this season with his love for Barry Stewart and our inept offensive philosophy. If we miss the tournament with our roster/expectations, that might just be all she wrote for Stans. I agree Stans is a top 3 or 4 recruiter in the SEC, but his floor coaching/in-game decision making is bottom third. It has been proven that being an excellent defensive team with no real offensive strategy, at best just gets you in the tournament.

Moving Ravern from 3 to 2 would mean more dribbling for him, and I don't think anyone wants to see that.

Do you people ever watch us play defense. Barry is by far our best defender and if you think Osby can play defense, then you are blind as a bat. hell, sit them all and play 4 corners and see how many we win.</p>

1- Ravern playing the 2 guard is an awful idea. That puts the ball in his hands breaking the press and initiating the offense. He has shaky ball skills as it is, i couldnt see him handling it even more. If you think more turnovers are a good thing, then by all means move him to the 2 full time. Teams would press the **** out of us.

2- Kodi at small forward is an interesting idea. Not a good one, but an interesting one. He is basically already in that position since he has decided to camp full time on the perimeter and Stans allows him to do that. But that doesnt mean he is good there. In fact he is pretty useless there. He commits charging fouls too often when he is on the perimeter and he cant handle the ball well enough to be trusted when driving into the lane from so far out. Also, his size needs to be taken advantage of for rebounding...which means his *** needs to be planted in the paint. Id be fine if instead of a turnover from a charge each game, he were to get a 3 second call. Id take that every damn time.

3- Osby at PF? Seriously? He is a tweener that is out of position when playing down low. He is at his best when moving off the ball and actively trying to slash into the paint from the outside. Only problem is he cant handle the ball worth a damn.

Your suggestions would actually make us worse.

This isnt even considering the defensive problems such a lineup would cause. Ravern would be guarding a SG. Holy crap that would be a disaster. Augustus would be guarding SFs...who are typically in college actually just a third guard. Holy crap that would be a disaster.

You mean second best, don't you?

Also, Dee Bost is a tremendous on the ball defender. It may not be consistent, but when he wants to play defense Bost is a much better defender in my opinion.

You have dee, ravern, and osby bring it up. Dee normally beats the press himself anyways.

You put Kodi at the 4 and Osby at the 3 though.

You run a high low.
Kodi at the free throw line and Varnado down low. Osby swings the baseline or Ravern. You could play Stewart at 2 and ravern at 3 and do the same thing.

Its beyond me how with we haven't done this already with Kodis shooting ability inside the arc from the 10 to 15 foot range. You get the ball inside to Varnado and he either takes a wide open layup or when the double team comes he dishes to the free throw line to Kodi.

Offensively he'd do the same thing Kodi does except he doesn't charge every time he drives and might be more willing to not camp at the 3pt line. Defensively he really couldn't do much worse than Kodi does on average and seems to play with a bit more energy. Plus he's a pretty good passer so we could use him on some high screen or some high post plays (if we even have a playbook). He gives up a little size, but he's pretty strong so I think he'd hold his own against most PF.

So here's how I'd revise Lineup and PT:

PG - Bost - 34 min
SG - Barry - 30 min
SF - Ravern - 32 min
PF - Osby - 25 min
C - Varnado - 34 min

Bench:

Phil - spells Ravern and Barry and thus gets about 22-24 min (b/c Barry spells Bost)\
Kodi - spells Osby and Varnado and thus gets 21 min a game (which is about what he's getting now)
Riley - situational only - maybe if we're not shooting well and team is playing a zone we'll see if he's hot
Wendell - situation if Kodi is in doghouse or we get into foul trouble
Riek - blowouts only

So basically we have a 7 man rotation.
