Last time I checked, they didn't have a finalized plan. Hell, it seemed like they weren't even 100% sure what they wanted to put there. I'm looking forward to see what happens with it but I doubt its finished by summer 2012. If they do this right, I think it has potential to really start sending Starkvillein the right direction. That land is prime.

As one who knows nothing about the bond market, I assume this could be true but do not know why.... Also, how is it going to work now that Tabor is putting in their own development where the University Inn use to sit?

I've heard talk about something being built on that property for over 20 years and there's still nothing there!!! The old theater/pizza hut/university inn property has sat vacant for too long. I really hope that the Tabor and Buffalo Wild Wings projects help get the momentum going for the Cotton Mills project. Cotton Mills has the potential to drastically transform the development atmosphere ofStarkville. If it gets completed and is successful, I think we'll see a new wave of development in the area. Bring it on!!!

it seems to me to be unfortunate that Cotton Mills and the Tabors couldn't work out a better solution... From what I understand, Tabor is putting a BWW on his land, which happens to be right in the middle of where the CM developer would put shops or parking for those shops. If that's still true, too bad.<div>
</div><div>It's not a deal killer, but ideally you'd like to have a perfectly rectangular piece of property to work with instead of what will turn out to be shaped like a horseshoe around a B-Dub.</div><div>
</div><div>Of course, I'm just guessing at all this. I should probably leave it to the real estate experts in Starkville.</div>

public finance managers and the consultants are having a hard time convincing anyone in the public sector that going further into debt is a good thing right now.

Tabor tried to work with Cotton Mills but Cotton Mills wouldn't have anything to do with him. Cotton Mills went even as far to block that piece of property from being re-zoned so Tabor couldn't build something similar to the Pilot house (formerly the Gales Apt on S. Montgomery).

Tabor also went so far as trying to connect the CM people with the developers of the Summit in Birmingham (who showed interest). But the CM people would not follow through so the people in Birmingham lost interest.

and won't for another 2-3 years. They were going to get seed money from donors and basically fund the expansion with bond money.

There will be no football expansion in the immediate future and the plans are to not have it ready until 2015. That is being done so that we can celebrate 100 yrs of Scott Field in the fall of 2015. I simply and guessing that the pricing might be a factor in the decision to delay things (even though probably 95% of want construction to begin immediately after the Egg Bowl in 2010). With Mullen's demands for the football complex being #1 priority, and money being hard to come up with for everything that needs to be done, I am sure his offices are the priority and the expansion is now further down the priority list.
